Chace headed to his trailer to grab a few things that he might need. With Chace momentarily gone Sophie explained the situation to Mark. Who demanded to stay as well but later realized he didn't want to share a bed with his arch nemesis. Mark then suggested his trailer but Sophie pointed out that he had zero medical knowledge. He wasn't at all happy but he knew his sister was doing the right thing. If Mark couldn't stay the night he planned to be at Sophie's as long as possible. He went back to his trailer to grab his work bag.

Sophie wanted Chace to sleep on the couch but since the trailer couch was half of what a normal couch was she thought that might be too cruel. She could barely fit on the couch and Chace was double her size. Even when she didn't want to, she always had to be the hospitable host. He would sleep in Phoebe's room as Phoebe would just sleep in her room for the evening. She took Chace's momentary absence to tidy his temporary living quarters and move Phoebe's pillows and stuffed animal in her room. She chuckled at imagining Chace sleeping on Sophie Disney princess sheets.

It was getting late and Sophie's stomach was very vocal about how hungry she was. She had been avoiding starting dinner mainly because she had never cooked for a celebrity before. She was hoping that Chace wasn't too pretentious. She already had planned to make dinner tonight so thankfully she had enough of all the ingredients.

Chace made himself comfortable on the couch and Phoebe rested her head on his shoulder as they watched power rangers. Obviously Phoebe picked the show but Chace gave no complaints. Sophie proclaimed her intentions to start on dinner.

"Need any help?" Chace asked. It caught Sophie off guard as it sounded so polite and genuine.

"No thank you, I have it covered." If she ever did meet his mom she would shake her hand at the decency she ingrained in him, on some occasions that is.

Sophie got the ingredients out of the small fridge and began chopping. She reminisced about how Thomas was never interested in helping in the kitchen or learning to cook. If Sophie was unable to make dinner  they ordered out. She never complained much about it as she was a stay at home mom and she felt obligated to do it.

Sophie was curious if Chace was just being polite or if he actually knew how to cook.

Mark arrived back at the trailer and stormed in unannounced. He glanced around obviously looking to see what the sleeping arrangements would be. He seemed to relax a bit when he spotted Chace's bag in Phoebe's room. He knew his sister wouldn't succumb to the mystical sexual prowess of Chace. His sister was far too smart for that. Which reminded him, "Soph, don't forget to update Jonathan. He was quite concerned when you left."
Mark looked over at Chace to see his reaction, which he felt intense pleasure seeing him stiffen in response. Mark wasn't sure if Chace was interested in Sophie just as some fun new conquest or if he realized her worth. Regardless he didn't like it.

"Oh you're right. Right after dinner I'll call him. He is seriously such a gentleman." Sophie smiled. Her back was turned so she missed Chace's eye roll.

Dinner was mostly eaten in silence, well apart from Phoebe's constant question asking. The tension between Mark and Chace was so palpable that it made dinner seem to drag on.

"This is so good!" Chace remarked as he scooped another spoonful of grilled cheese dipped in cream of tomato soup.

Sophie shifted in her seat unsure of how to respond. She knew that Chace probably ate at the finest restaurants ever in existence as a Hollywood celebrity that she found it hard to fathom her food would satisfy his palate.

Phoebe chimed in to fill the air, "It's my Dad's favorite dinner!' Sophie dropped her spoon at the mentioning of Phoebe's dad as well as Phoebe still hadn't gotten used to using past tense when speaking of him.

Chace cleared his throat as he often forgot that Sophie was married. Mark, seeing his sister squirm clearly not wanting to clarify the situation, decided to discuss the movie schedule.

"We are going to give you tomorrow off but plan to resume shooting again on Thursday if that's ok with you."

"Yeah. I should be better by then. Thanks for the day off. I'm sure that wasn't easy."

Sophie felt like she was in the twilight zone as her brother and Chace actually had a decent exchange of words.

Chace finished every drop of tomato soup and his grilled cheese. He got up and collected the rest of the dishes and walked over to the sink. Sophie walked over  to start the dishes when she nearly fell over as Chace rolled up his sleeves and started to do them himself. Feeling uncomfortable she went to move Chace out of the way.

"I can do them." She insisted trying to use her hips to push him out the way.

He grinned at her futile attempt to push his large body out of the way with her petite frame.

"I know you can do it but you shouldn't. You made dinner so I can at least help clean up." Sophie couldn't hide that her jaw was gaping open. Again never had her late husband ever did the dishes after a meal. He never offered to do the dishes so Sophie did. She couldn't believe her eyes that this movie star stud was cleaning dishes like it was no big deal. Whoever his mama was, she must be a saint.

After the dishes were done Sophie got out the pint of ice cream she got earlier from Pam's Ice cream store. She made a weekly trip there and enjoyed trying all the new flavors. Chace laughed, commenting on how he grew up on ice cream and how much he loved it.

Mark eventually left after he made sure everything/everyone was as it should be. Mark made it known that he would be by bright and early tomorrow. Not sure who he was informing but he wanted it known that he didn't want any surprises.

To wind down the night they crammed together on the couch and began watching a movie. Even though she had a guest Sophie felt comfortable and relaxed. Relaxed enough that she had dozed off to sleep. Sophie was always a light sleeper so when she felt a strong embrace and hot breath on her she stiffened. Her eyes jolted open and Chace was carrying her to her tiny trailer to bed. Even though she had the adrenaline rush she softly asked,

"What are you doing?"

She dare not loosen her grip around his neck. One for fear of falling and two because it felt so natural. Thomas, her husband, never was able to carry her. He was a long and lean guy who never frequented the gym. Chace carried her and it seemed effortless and most of all safe. His large biceps supporting her head. She felt herself relax into his arms. That did not go unnoticed to Chace who couldn't help but smile.

"You fell asleep on that tiny couch. I thought you would be more comfortable in your bed." She had fallen for his nice guy charms before but he always seemed to return to his jerkish state. She was guarded now of his motives. He gently laid her in bed, pulled the covers over her shoulders, and swept a stray hair back tucked it behind her ear. She was so relaxed and calm the weight of her eyelids felt like 1000 pounds so she did not dare lift them. She felt Phoebe next to her and she realized he probably carried her in too.

Chace so desperately wanted to seal the night with a peck on her forehead but he refrained, unsure of how it would be received. He also had to keep reminding himself that she was technically a married woman. Yes there was no husband in sight and she never mentioned him nor Phoebe which he found odd. Maybe if she trusted him she would eventually confide in him. Maybe there was a reason she never spoke of him that would give him some insight. He feared though that someone as beautiful and special as Sophie was of course out of his reach.
