Life on set became busier than ever as the pressure to finish before Christmas Eve hovered in the air. As much as Sophie was tired of living on set she wasn't thrilled to go back to her "normal life" once again. She thought she would distract herself with making plans to have the most EPIC Christmas back in FL.It would be the first time in a while she would host Christmas at her home and she looked forward to having a full house with old and new friends. Sophie was daydreaming about appetizers and holiday games when she ran into Katie.
"Hey, I wanted to ask you about your plans for Christmas. We would love to host you at our house!" Sophie's enthusiasm was palpable.
"Sorry girl, I would love to, but I already have another gig lined up. I'll be traveling on Christmas to get to the location on time," Katie regrettably replied.
"Oh bummer." Sophie was slightly disappointed but still excited.
"If for some reason plans change I would love to come," Katie gave an encouraging smile.
When she arrived on set she came across Mark who was frantically analyzing his notes for the day.
"Are you planning to bring anyone over for Christmas?" Sophie asked.
"What? What do you mean?" Mark was only half listening as he attempted to continue reading.
"For Christmas? I'm trying to make plans back at home for a party on Christmas. I just wanted to see if it would just be you or are you inviting anyone?"
"Oh I forgot to tell you I can't go....."
"WHAT!" Sophie interjected.
"I'm sorry. I would do anything to be there but as soon as the film wraps up doesn't mean I'm done. I have to do editing and selecting which cuts we will use blah blah blah."
"So much for 'come be in the movie and you will see me all the time'," Sophie said bitterly reiterating his words he used to get her there.
"Oh come on don't be like that Sis. We have spent a lot of time together and we celebrated Thanksgiving together too. I'll make it up to you guys I promise."
Sophie took a deep breath and let it out. She knew her brother needed this work if he wanted to continue to live his dream but it was just so dang inconvenient. He had been spent time with them but maybe she'll always feel like it's never enough cause she loves him.
"It's fine. We will figure it out."
Mark gave a reassuring smile and then went back to being engrossed in his notes again.
Sophie made her way over to the chairs and flopped into one.
Now the only other person to ask on set was Chace and she felt that would be awkward to have just him there. She wasn't ready to insert Chace as the new "dad" to Phoebe and having him as the only guest as Christmas would appear that way. She thought of them all in matching PJs on Christmas morning and shook with embarrassment. Yes Chace was a natural with Phoebe but Christmas morning was basically solidifying a huge commitment.
Sophie was so deep in thought she didn't hear Chace sit down. Chace gently caressed her hair to bring her back to reality.
"What's got you so deep in thought today?" Chace inquired.
Sophie instinctively pulled her legs up on the chair and wrapped her arms around her knees. She attempted to use this position as a body shield for any uncomfortable topics.
"Nothing," she sounded like a child holding back a secret.
Chace got closer to Sophie's face and stared into her eyes trying to get it out of her whatever she was trying not to say.
