Ch. 37

***4 Months Later****

It was suggest by the surgeon that Phoebe had to spend a month recovering and it was decided by the masses that it must take place at Pam's farm. Phoebe was more insistent than anyone. During  Phoebe's hospital stay Sophie inquired about a part time ER position since she was no longer Phoebe's "tutor" onset. They were more than happy to offer to an experienced inner city nurse the job and it didn't hurt that they knew she had celebrity connections. Pam and Chace promised to always be available to watch Phoebe whenever she needed. Sophie's eyes dampened with tears at her new makeshift family. 

When Phoebe fully recovered she wanted to finish school with Pastor Miller's daughter. Before Sophie realized it they were putting down roots to this small quaint town but she didn't feel anxious about it at all.

Since it seemed they were going to become more permanent residents in Montana Sophie began discreetly looking for a new place. She loved staying with Pam but didn't want to overstay her welcome, especially since Chace was a hallway temptation.  She had noticed that Chace was going more and more to "his spot" in the woods. He never asked her to accompany him and she figured he was needing more space that she wanted to give him. 

Nothing is secret in a small town so Chace got wind of Sophie's search for a home. He had a surprise for Sophie as they loaded up the horses and headed down the trail to "their spot". Sophie hadn't ventured this far from Pam's since the time when she chased after Chace. There by the opening of Chace's secret spot was the beginnings of a house being built. Sophie gave Chace a bewildered look but Chace explained how his mom and him decided they always needed to be close by. He had slowly been keeping this project hidden but he had been working on building a home for them. He held her hand as he navigated as he implored her to use her imagination at all the possibilities its it was still the bare bones of a home. Sophie grabbed Chace's face as she stared into his deep ocean blue eyes analyzing the joy that radiated from him. She shut him up with passionate kiss that caused Chace to release a moan and soft smile on Sophie's lips. His calloused hand landed on the back of Sophie's head as he pulled her in to deepen the kiss further. The sun set and they were left breathless and excited for the day when this home had a bed.

Chace no longer avoided church and he used his karoake skills to join his mom on stage on occasion. Jonathan didn't hold any grudges over the competition for Sophie's heart. He realized Chace was a changed man and at the end of the day he just wanted Sophie to be happy. Jonathan saw the was Sophie looked at Chace and knew that she was happy.

After the great Christmas ring diabolical Chace gave Sophie as much time as she needed. She never felt pressured. One day while she was chasing Phoebe around the farm Sophie tripped and braced her fall in a giant heaping pile of cow manure. She took her rings off in the shower that day as she scrubbed her body clean. It took her a few days to realize she never had put them back on. It was then she realized she was ready. One random fall night Sophie and Chace put Phoebe to bed like they always did and then took residence on the couch like they did every night.

"Do you still have my necklace?" Sophie softly inquired.

Chace was mesmerized by the fireplace, "Necklace?"

Sophie hit him with her elbow, "You know the NECKLACE."

"Oh that one?! What do you need it for?" Chace retorted playfully.

"What do you think you doofus?" She showed him her bare left hand.

He tried to hide his smirk, "Oh that one. I'll see if I can find it this week."

When Sophie awoke the following morning Chace had it displayed next to Sophie's morning cup of coffee. He had wasted no time. He knew it was a step in the right direction for her to have her ring finger free but he still knew she needed time before it again wore a dazzling ring.

While the movie was still in post production the studio started the publicity which included the on screen/off screen "romance" of Chace and Meghan. They both knew from the beginning that their "relationship" was going to sky rocket the sales of the movie. It was mostly effortless a few lunches that were "tipped off" to the media to "catch them." Thankfully Chace and Meghan had officially made amends during the Thanksgiving dinner making this less painful for everyone. They would spend their "romantic" dates talking about their significant others. They equally would light up with animated smiles that the paparazzi would snap a photo and attribute it to their loving chemistry. They were obligated to throw the paparazzi a few PDA magazine covers but Chace drew the line at hand holding and cheek kisses for obvious reasons. Even though Sophie was fine with the publicity gimmicks Chace knew she deserved better. She understood the fans ate it up and it was a harmless free promotion for the movie. However Chace felt like his relationship would remain stagnant if he didn't end this charade.

Chace didn't want to masquerade as Meghan's beau while he wanted to wed Sophie. He originally felt like he owed it to Meghan's career to make her soar to fame as a power couple especially after he had so obviously hurt her. Meghan though had a new beau in her life and didn't want to have to keep hiding him as well so they formulated a plan.

On the night of the premier Chace and Meghan rolled up hand in hand and the media frenzied around them as they made their way down the red carpet. Behind them was Phoebe with her Mom and Uncle escorting her.

Chace and Meghan smiled their perfectly white glistening smiles til suddenly Chace gestured  that he wanted to say something. The crowd's noise died down thinking they were in for a rousing speech of his undying love and devotion to his co-star Meghan. Instead Chace proclaimed that he was sorry for the ruse but his heart belonged to the another woman. That Meghan and him this entire time had just been friends while behind the scenes another woman stole his heart. Meghan wore a grin ear to ear as she  happy to be  apart of the charade. Meghan left Chace's arm grabbing Sophie placing her next to Chace along with Phoebe in tow.

"I fell in love with my pint size co-star's mom." The media buzzed, the lights of the cameras were blinding  as Phoebe beamed with enthusiasm.

"In fact, Phoebe, do you have something you want to say?" Chace roared over the sound of clicking cameras.

Phoebe grinned as Sophie looked puzzled. Sophie bent town to hear Phoebe and the media noise came to a halt preparing for what they knew would be a media storm.

"Mom, Will you Marry Mr. Chase?" Sophie whipped around to find Chace on a bend and knee with a diamond ring. Nothing about this seemed real but what was real anymore? Sophie had given up all her previous constraints of life and traded them in for an adventure that she never could have predicted. She never thought she would find love again and here he was better then she ever could have envisioned. He not only loved her but he cherished her daughter. She turned to Mark who nodded his head in approval. It meant so much that her brother trusted Chace with her heart. A tear broke free and trickled down her face as Sophie screamed, "YES!" and the paparazzi went wild. The movie didn't suffer in sales even though the dynamic duo was outed because the very real one stirred America's heart. How could they not love a guy who fell in love with his co stars mom?

The ceremony was intimate and just included immediate family. They held the service at sunset at Chace's secret spot that was no longer secret. Chace didn't mind though because he didn't think he needed a secret spot anymore. He had a forever confidant and one that he could share everything with. The reception was at the house and every flavor of ice cream was served. There was dancing and of course karoake. Pam took Phoebe back to  her house so Chace and Sophie could start their honeymoon in the house he built her. 

"If someone would of told me a year ago I would be married and waiting for my wedding night to have sex I would of thought they had a stroke," Chace teased. 

Sophie giggled. 

"Well I'm just glad there is some miles between your Mom's house and this one cause I know how loud you can be." Sophie stuck her tongue out at him. 

Chace's cheeks blushed remembering his bachelor days next to Sophie's trailer. Sophie grabbed his neatly pressed white dress shirt and forcefully pressed her lips on to his. He peppered her neck with kisses as she moaned, " Lets make some new memories." 

She wrapped her legs around his waist as he carried her to the bedroom. 

"I'm the luckiest man alive, I have EVERYTHING."
