After eating our fill and deeming it safe for me to rest now, the boys left me alone to sleep in Mason's room, Messiah returning to his own, Liam seeking out Soren to inform him of what happened, and Mason deciding to watch over me via the roof. Apparently he said it's a better perch to keep a look out from. He wasn't too happy when I called him a pigeon after he had said 'perch', but I needed the laugh. I don't know how long I slept for, but when I next awoke it was already late into the night, so I estimated at least eight hours or so that I was out. But I wasn't expecting to have an intruder in my room.
There was a shadowed figure standing by the open window facing the backyard much like the terrace in my own room was. I wasn't aware before that Mason's room resided next to my own. I gasped and immediately sat up at the sight of the stranger, but cried out when my shoulder burned in protest and swiftly clamped a hand over the injury. "When the Cupid told me you would be out of commission for a few days, I had to come see for myself. Looks like he wasn't lying, at the least."
I sighed in relief at the familiar voice and lied back down with ease. "Oh, it's just you, Soren."
Soren chuckled and turned to face me. "Well, I feel offended."
I managed a smile as he came over to sit by me on the bed before I frowned. "Wait, how did you even get in here? Mason's on the roof keeping a lookout and I doubt Ronan let you in."
Soren smirked then, his green eyes gleaming red and his fangs shining in the starlight through the open window. "Can't keep out what you can't see."
My frown deepened and I thought on his words some more before grinning widely and practically bounced with excitement. "This has to do with your 'Misting' ability, doesn't it?"
Soren chuckled once more, his eyes fading back to green and his fangs receding. Even with his Vampire traits on full display, he was no longer frightening to me for some reason. It was oddly soothing. "You're right on the mark."
I pouted. "But I still don't know what it is exactly."
"You'll figure it out soon enough." Soren sniffed the air then and narrowed his eyes. "Ugh, you reek." I gaped at him. He merely rolled his eyes. "I'm guessing the mongrel couldn't control himself and laid Claim to you. Most likely the reason you smell like him so much now." I could only nod in confirmation while gently tapping at my sealed bitemark.
"Mason will be back soon to help change out my bandage," I informed him, and he only nodded while looking out the window, eyes still narrowed as they slowly turned a blood red.
