A/N: Finally felt inspired :) Song above is 'Numbers' by The Cab <3

Well, this was awkward.  I released a tired sigh and glanced between the two males before me. After having called Mason by his Archangel name in order to stop him from trying to kill Soren, he hadn't spoken a single word to me since. He even refused to so much as look at me. I knew calling him by that Holy name would trigger a reaction, but I never expected the silent treatment. And Soren was currently being all-too-giddy about it.

"Well," the age-old Vampire began with a wide smirk, his fangs glinting in the faint sliver of moonlight from the clouded sky above, "if I had known this was the most effective way in shutting you up, I would've done it decades ago." Soren only received a deathly silent glare and flaring nostrils from the mute Guardian Angel. The Vampire flippantly waved his hand. "Oh, don't be such a spoil-sport. So, what? Your Charge knows your real name, big deal," Soren gave a one-shoulder shrug, "it's not like you were never going to tell her the truth at some point." Mason avoided his gaze and stared hard at the ground. A cold shiver ran down my spine at his vacant answer. Soren, however, didn't fail to notice his reaction. "Oh? You were never going to tell her?"

I felt a bubbling emotion begin to grow in the pit of my stomach as I balled my hands into tight fists at my sides. "Why?" I demanded roughly, procuring a cursory glance from the Archangel. "Why were you never going to tell me?" Mason simply blinked his pale gray eyes and turned his face away. My eyebrow twitched in annoyance. "Soren," I addressed my Soul Mate then who merely raised a single eyebrow at me in answer, "I want you to Turn me."

Mason's gray eyes flashed and he was in front of me the very next second. "Over my dead body," he growled lowly.

"Well, that finally got a reaction out of you," I seethed right back at him, having to crane my neck back in order to peer up at him.

"Is that offer still on the table?" Soren pitched in, and both Mason and I sent him a death glare. He simply raised his hands and took a few several steps back.

Mason sighed. "It wasn't a need-to-know at the time," he murmured, and I raised an eyebrow.

"So you thought that not letting me know you are one of the Seven Archangels of Heaven was on a not 'need-to-know' basis?" I scoffed. "That is complete bullshit, Mason."

Mason scoffed right back at me. "And you think me telling you would've redeemed myself?" he hissed, unfurling his midnight wings in unison. "Take a good long look, Amber. This is what happens to an Archangel who allowed his Charge to become enticed by the prospect of Immortality only to lose her at Death's hand rather than being Turned."

I blinked rapidly up at his confession, my hazel eyes flicking between his own gaze and his wings. So, that means that Soren never Turned her. Instead, he had-

I swallowed roughly and felt my body tremble at the thought. He had killed her. Sometimes I forget that the men around me have lived longer lives and share a past together that I know nothing about. And a pretty violent, bloody one, at that. I lowered my head and pressed it against Mason's bare chest, my gaze locked on the dew-covered grass beneath my shoes. "I'm sorry," I murmured quietly.

Mason's chest heaved with a great sigh as both his arms and wings came around to wind themselves tightly around my small frame. "I have yet to redeem myself over the past few centuries, and I have the faintest hope that you just might be able to help me with that. You're like a sister to me, Amber. Even amongst my real siblings, you're a close second," he murmured quietly into my ear, and I grasped tightly onto his broad, naked back, my fingertips brushing against his feathers as they twitched slightly at my touch.
