"I'm starved," I complained while rubbing my stomach once Mason, Ronan, and I had returned to the Pack House. I had completely forgotten to eat breakfast this morning with the whole 'Alpha Lucian' fiasco and my emotional breakdown. I sighed heavily and sat down at the dining table, hunching over to lean on my folded arms. My stomach growled in complaint. "Someone feed me," I groaned and lolled my head to one side when a cute little blue to-go box was placed in front of me. I straightened my spine and looked up to find Messiah smiling down at me with a matching little box held in his own hand. "What is this?"
"It's a chocolate coconut cake," Messiah explained while taking a seat across from me and opening his own little blue box. Liam walked into the kitchen then fully dressed in a black muscle tee with his jeans and shoes from this morning as he went scouring through the fridge. I had no idea what he had been doing during the time I was out with Ronan and Mason, but I guess it wasn't my business. Speaking of going out-
"Where did you get this from?" I asked while standing up to retrieve us some forks for our mini cakes. It took me a while to locate the silverware drawer as I finally grabbed two forks and walked back over to the dining table, offering the second fork to Messiah.
"Oh, I got it from this shop in town. It's a small bakery called 'Sweet Nothings'," Messiah mildly explained while digging into his cake.
"Really?" I asked just to make conversation, and took a bite of the cake as a sudden explosion of taste filled my mouth. I swallowed roughly and allowed the rich texture of the chocolate to settle, the coconut flakes melting along my tongue. I felt so. . .loved. And all just from a single bite. And from a cake of all things.
"Did you just say 'Sweet Nothings'?" Liam suddenly perked up from peering into the fridge, his blue eyes suddenly wide with curiosity.
Messiah glanced over his shoulder at the Cupid with a stoic, unreadable expression. "Yeah, why?"
Liam blinked rapidly and shook his head with a mumbled, "Uh, nothing. Just thought it sounded familiar, is all." Messiah blinked once and simply went back to eating his cake. Liam continued frowning deeply before shaking his head once more and continuing to search the kitchen for nothing in particular.
"This cake is so good," I murmured in pleasure, cradling my cheek as I devoured bite after bite until it was completely gone.
Messiah chuckled. "Yeah, she seems to have a way with food."
I perked up at that bit. "'She'?" I emphasized while wiggling my eyebrows suggestively, a growing smirk spreading across my face.
"Stop that, Am," Messiah chuckled, his shoulders shaking lightly with the action as he nudged my arm with the handle of his fork. "She's way too old for me, plus," his mind seemed to wander for a moment before answering quietly, "she's different."
