"Do you always try to ruin relationships?" asked the darkling "I'm not trying to ruin anything!" she shouted. "Watch your tongue". He walked closer to her. "Does it hurt?" he asked, the bite". "No" she lied, a small smile flicked on his face but slowly faded, "it will get better". "But the wounds will never be healed, not even by grisha".
Those are what attacked y/n nothing will be able to undo with those creatures did. . .the nichevoya". Alina froze, she remembered how horrible they looked. The gaping holes of their mouths and the clicking noises they would make. "What are they?". The darkling cupped her cheek with his hand, he leaned in closer. "The beginning".
Ivan appeared once more, he grabbed Alinas arm and yanked her back down. "Slow down" she protested, but Ivan did not listen. He tugged on her sleeve and she lost her footing, her knees slammed onto the deck. With her shackled hands she couldn't brace herself or get up on her own, "move" said Ivan. Alina tried to sit herself up but her knee slipped out from under her, causing her to fall back down onto the deck.
"I said move" snapped Ivan. A large hand scooped up Alina and sat her back down onto the deck, she looked up to see Tamar and Tolya. "Are you alright?" she asked, "this is none of your concern" Ivan said angrily. "Shes strumhonds prisoner" Tamar snapped "she should be treated accordingly.
"She's the darklings prisoner" said Ivan, "and a traitor". "Maybe on land, but not on the sea" Tamar shot back, Ivan said something in shu but Tolya just laughed. "You speak shu like a tourist" he laughed "and we don't take orders from you in any language," Tolya added. "Don't you?" Ivan smirked. His hand twitched forward, Tolya grabbed her chest and fell to her knees.
Tolya immediately had a curved blade in his hand and was ready to lunge at Ivan. but he flicked his other hand out and he grimaced, but he didn't fall. "Leave them alone" Alina pleaded, but Ivan did not listen. He squeezed his hand into a fist and Tolya fell to the ground.
You walked up from the cabins to find Ivan attacking Tolya and Tamar. You quickly raised your hand and water began to form from the air. You flicked your wrist forward and the stream slammed Ivan into a nearby post.
"Are you alright?" you asked kneeling down next to the twins, "I'm fine, thank you" she replied as you helped her up. "And I thought I was going to have a bit of fun" said a voice from behind, you quickly turned to find Sturmhond standing with his pistol.
"I don't want trouble,' said Sturmhond, Tamar's fists were still clenched. "Understood?". The twins exchanged a glance, then nodded in agreement. "Good," said Sturmhond. "Get back to work. I'll take her belowdecks". They nodded once more, then gave Alina a bow and left. "Are they related?" Alina asked, watching them leave.
"Twins" he replied, "and you're sturmhond". "On my good days" he chuckled. "What's a pirate doing on a whaler?" she asked, "privatter" he corrected. "I have several ships. The darkling wanted a whaler, so I got him one".
"You should have given him nothing," you interrupted. "You have something against ships?" he asked, "if I could destroy every ship with my power, I would". "And how did you come by this ship? Stole it?" she asked. "Acquired it". "You were in my cabin". "Many women dream of me" he said, locking eyes with you. "Men too".
Your face went red and you looked out at the sea as a griin was plastered on Sturmhonds face. Sturmhond led Alina down the steps, "I saw you when I woke up", "I need-". Sturmhond raised a hand and she quickly stopped, "don't waste your breath lovely". "But you don't even know what I was going to say" she snapped. "You were about to plead your case, tell me you need my help, you can't pay me but your heart is true, the usual thing".
That was exactly what Alina was going to do. It was as if he could read her far deeper than she noticed. "So I'm just assuming women throw themselves after you" Alina said, "well yes, but my heart is set on someone" he sighed. "But anyways, I don't like to see my prisoners mistreated, but that's as far as my interest goes," he said.
He shook his head, "and I'm notoriously immune to the tales of woe. So unless your story involves a talking dog, I don't want to hear it. Does it?". "Does it what?" she asked, "a talking dog" he chuckled. "No" she snapped "it involves the future kingdom of Ravka and everyone in it". "A pity" he said, taking her by the arm and leading her down the hatch. "I thought you worked for Ravka" she said angrily.
"I work for the fattest purse". "So you'd sell your country to the darkling for a little bit of gold?". "No, for a lot of gold," he said. "I assure you I don't come cheap". "And I thought you couldn't get even more charming," you chuckled, following them down the hatch.
"Do i amaze you that much?" he winked, "I could be yours" he said pulling you close to him. "For a price". You rolled your eyes and pulled away from him, "prices are overrated" you replied. Alina had finally made it back to her cabin, "I'll see you around" Sturmhond. "Byee" you chuckled, going into her cabin.
Alina sat down on her bunk and held her head in her hands. Genya came over with a tray of food, Alinas dinner. "You should eat" she said, "leave me alone". "Sulking will only give you wrinkles" "and lying gives you warts".
Genya entered the cabin and set down the tray next to Alina while you stood at the window. She crossed over the room and glanced at her reflection, "maybe I should go blonde" she said. "Corporalki red clashes with my hair". "Are you seriously concerned about your hair" you chuckled, "you know you could wear baked mud and still outshine every girl on two continents" said Alina. "I know".
Genya laughed and studied her boots, "I missed you" she sad. Alina was surprised to hear that, she didnt think that Genya cared at all. She missed her too but she felt like an idiot for it. "Were you ever my friend?" she asked, Gneya sat down at the edge of the bunk.
"Would it make a difference?". "I like to know just how stupid I've been, and you, were you ever my friend?". "I loved being your friend Alina, but I don't regret what I did," said Genya. "I was always your friend, but my loyalties lied elsewhere" you replied.
"And what the darkling did? Are you sorry for that?" she asked, "I know you think hes a monster, but he's just trying to do what's best for Ravka, for all of us". Alina shoved to her elbows, she had lived with the knowledge of the darklings lies for too long. "Genya, he created the fold". "The black heretic-", "there is no black heretic" she interrupted.
"But you already knew that y/n" she continued "you know who and what he was, you knew what he meant to do the entire time". You swallowed hard, "my loyalties lie to him, I did what I thought was best. . to support him". "How can you support a monster!". "He blamed his ancestors for the creation of the fold, but there's only been one darkling, and all he cares about is power".
"You could have stopped him, you knew everything he was going to do". "And how could I have stopped him, he's been around for centuries, do you think I would stay with him if I had the option?" you choked. "Alina, what you're saying is impossible, the darkling has spent his entire life trying to free Ravka of the fold.
