Once again, you found yourself leaving the house, heading in the direction of the convenience store. Your voice was caught in your throat and you couldn't bring yourself to smile at all. You kept huffing out sighs to suppress the urge to scream. Had it not been so late and dark, you would've had your earbuds in to drown out the thoughts that continuously caused you to want to scream. Every time the memory drifted back into your head, you'd roll your eyes, picking up your pace. If there was one place that you didn't want to be, it was your house.
Usually, the bright white buzzing lights would seem unfamiliar and harsh, but when you opened the door and were greeted with the harsh light, you'd never felt more welcomed.
Rather than being greeted with the familiar face and friendly dimples of Soobin, you were met with Taehyun, whom you'd only met hours prior.
"Oh, hello," you greeted, bowing your head slightly. "I didn't know you worked here."
"I don't," he shrugged in reply.
You opened your mouth to say something but no words came out as you looked over his uniform in confusion. It was definitely too big for him. The shirt fit loosely and on his left side was a name tag that read 'Soobin'. Soobin's uniform?
"Soobin Hyung wanted to take a nap after school and he looked so peaceful while sleeping, I didn't have the heart to wake him, so I shut off his alarm and took over his shift," Taehyun shrugged.
"Is that allowed?" You asked, concerned.
"Probably not, but no one here cares unless someone is working," he replied.
"Soobin doesn't seem like the type of person to like this," you said, almost guiltily.
"I don't care," Taehyun shrugged nonchalantly.
This situation felt way above your pay grade. Rather than grabbing a water like you usually did, you instead just took at seat at the same metal table that you usually sat at.
"What brings you here?" He asked, attempting to start a conversation.
"I wanted to go out," you answered.
You'd made it your mission to befriend HueningKai, but you didn't know that he was a package deal. Nonetheless, you'd completely adored his friends. They'd proven themselves to be an entertaining group of close friends who love to tease each other and they all seemed like a fun group of people. That being said, it wasn't exactly what you'd bargained for, not that you were complaining too much. You found yourself overwhelmed by the addition of Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, and Taehyun. It was five new people for you to learn about and the five of them learning about you. You weren't exactly sure where you stood with any of them. Obviously you were closer to HueningKai than the rest, but how close were you exactly?
It wasn't like you could immediately be comfortable with all of them. Whilst your first impression of them was good, it was only a first impression. You didn't know much about any of them which meant that they also didn't know much about you. You wanted to become closer with each of them, but you weren't exactly sure how. Of course, with becoming close comes the question of how much you should reveal. How long with it be before you could safely scream out your frustrations with them?
"I see," Taehyun answered. "You're in my grade, right?"
"I'm in the same grade as HueningKai," you answered, unsure of what grade he was in.
"So the same," he nodded, leaning forward on the counter slightly. "I saw you in the hall once."
"Maybe that's why you seemed familiar," you hummed.
