| Chapter 1 • Nice Meeting You Neighbor

Patrick's POV

I was born at Norfolk Virginia. I do not live in this town, I just stay here because of work. I am a neurologist at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and for now I am staying here at the Light Street Apartments also located here at Baltimore. I stay here at my own apartment, I bought it because this is my ex girlfriend's place of birth and I want to stay here permanently because of her. But now, I'm thinking about moving out. Staying here tortures me, we build and created memories here and everytime I remember them it just makes it harder for me to forget. Today is sunday, nothing to do, nowhere to go.

Patrick spends his day off chilling inside his apartment, watching TV shows and movies by himself. He recently came from a break up, until now he's still devastated and it is hard for him to move on because he already was planning to marry that woman but then he saw her cheating on him with one of his co-doctor from work. Patrick is still sad and angry for what happened but this feeling will soon vanish because of one girl.

At that same day, A beautiful brunette woman moved in at the Light Street Apartments where Patrick was staying.

Vera's POV

"Hi, Good afternoon" she greeted the woman from the main desk with a smile, the woman greeted her back with an equal smile "What can I do for you madame?" The woman asked. "Is there any available room that I can land in for tonight?" She responded and the woman smiled "Of course madame, there are plenty of rooms available" she said happily. "Oh that's great, is your luxury room available?" "Yes madame, for how many companies?" the woman asked "Oh no, I'm sleeping alone" Vera answered politely with an uncomfortable smile. Then the woman proceed to show Vera the options. After seeing through the list the woman gave, she is finally decided. "I would like to be in room number 232" she said and they automatically proceeded with the bills.

After their accommodation Vera gave her luggages to the crew and let them arrange everything for her. Before she goes to her room, she decides to eat because she felt her stomach growling. After waiting in the lobby and finishing her food, the crew told her that her room was ready and she's good to go. She said thank you and took the elevator. Her room is located at the 4th floor of the building. The hallways are wide and big. It was hard for Vera to find her room because the numbers are engraved at the side of the door near the doorbell and they are very small, she is getting dizzy looking at the numbers and her eye sight is not helping her at all. After looking for her room for a good 3 minutes finally she found it. She unlocked the door and went inside. She gasp as soon as she sees the room that she booked, it is luxurious and fancy but in a modern way. As soon as she steps in the living room she landed herself into the couch. And made herself comfortable, she closes her eyes and smiles to herself. She let out a sigh and said "This is Good."

Laying on her tummy, Vera shifted her head to the other side where the coffee table is placed and there she saw a bowl of cereal with different berries soaked in almond cream milk. Vera is surprised to see a bowl of cereal prepared in her room, she quickly sat and took the bowl of cereal, she fed herself a spoonful, she was smiling because of the taste of it. She was eating cereals and berries with milk like every month but this one seems to be different. She finished about half of the cereal thinking that the crew must've prepared it for her while they were fixing her room.

After feeling full, Vera decided to roam around her apartment. She decided to check the kitchen first. When she arrived there, she was surprised to see a freshly cooked soup. She gently touched the side of the pan and it burns her finger a little. "Ouch, that hurt. Hm? Did the crew also prepared this soup?" She whispered to herself. She was being suspicious but she just ended up thinking that the crew was the one who prepared it, you know, as their way to welcome her in their building. After checking the kitchen she turned around and saw a tall, white, handsome and broad man half naked drying off his hair. She screamed so loud that she startled the man and the man also started to scream out of shock. Vera is quick to get the spatula and point it towards the man, using it as a weapon of defense.
