Chapter 3: First Taste

Elise Campbell wakes up and sees her husband, Nelson, looking at her from the edge of the bed.

Elise: Hey honey. How are you?

Nelson: Pretty bad, because I was looking through your phone.

Elise's heart starts pounding.

Nelson: Now I know what a cheating whore you are.

Nelson pulls out a shotgun from under the bed and aims it at Elise.

Nelson: I loved you. Now you have to die.

Elise stops imagining this scenario in her head and looks next to her, at her sleeping husband. She feels guilty, knowing she was sexting another man and masturbated while doing so. Twenty minutes later, Nelson gets up. The day begins like every other one. A mostly quiet breakfast and then Elise talks with Nelson as he gets ready for work. Well, he mostly talks and she does a lot of listening.

Nelson: Plans for the day?

Elise: Nothing. Just here around the house. I'll make us all dinner tonight.

Nelson: Good. They've been having you work evenings the past few days. It'll be nice to have dinner together again.

Elise: Yeah.

Nelson: Other than that, I meant do you have any plans since it's your day off?

Elise: Maybe do some reading.

Nelson: That's good. What are you reading?

Elise: "Community College".

Nelson: Weren't you mentioning watching that?

Elise: Yeah. But then I thought I'd read the books first.

Nelson: I prefer shows. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Elise: I like to use my imagination.

Nelson: We're forty. Not four. I like what I can see right in front of me.

He looks at Elise and smiles.

Nelson: Like you.

Hearing that warms Elise's heart, but also tortures her with guilt.

Elise: Thank you.

She hugs him.

Elise: I love you.

Nelson: I love you too. Now I gotta get going. I'm running behind on time.

Elise walks Nelson to the door, they give a quick kiss on the lips, say goodbye, and she sadly watches him drive away. Then it's back to the usual routine. Send Trinity off to school, and then Minnie. Alone, Elise can't wait more than a minute before she checks her messages with Holden, and sees he messaged saying "I had a great time last night. How are you?". Even though Elise doesn't want to, she smiles and feels very happy hearing from Holden. She replies "I'm good. I wasn't expecting that last night. How are you?" and he responds "I'm good. Did you like it?". Elise thinks, then answers honestly saying "I loved it".

The two text/sext throughout the day and then Elise gets a message from Anna reading "What?????".

Elise: Oh no. No.

She paces around the house.-

Elise: -No, no, no, no, no.

Nervous, Elise checks what she sent Anna and sees it reads "What are you doing to me?". For seconds she looks at it, not knowing how to respond. Then Anna messages again, saying "Was that 4 sum1 else?" and Elise replies "Yes".
