Red and I were planning on staying in and doing nothing all day when we got a call from the team. Apparently Batty has got something.
As the light from the zeta-beam fades away, we see the rest of the team already gathered in front of the monitors.
"Good, now that you guys are here we can finally start." Batman says, turning towards the screens and pulling something up. "You guys remember the tracker Percy placed in the girl?"
I hear Red grumble, "How could I forget." As we stop next to the rest of the mini justice kiddos.
I smile smugly at the thought of him being jealous, but push it away in a reminder to tease him later since we have an important matter at hand.
"Her name's Hayley, you know." I remind him, kind of feeling bad. All she wanted was a distraction and I used that against her to accomplish my mission.
I shake away my thoughts, again. What is up with me today?
Focus Percy. You got this. Think about chickens... wait-
"I'm well aware, Percy, the tracker in Hayley finally went somewhere other than the typical everyday places." Batman's words break me out of my inner pep talk. "It appears that she arrived at an abandoned warehouse an hour ago and has yet to leave."
"Oh goodie, another warehouse." I mutter.
"Will this be a covert mission?" Robby asks, actually paying attention.
"Yes, I want you guys to search the building. Try to find any information that could possibly lead to this leader of theirs. And apprehend any members if you come across them for interrogation."
"Yessir." Wally salutes, earning a grumble from said 'sir'.
That guy needs to get laid.
..
We're all strapped in the bio ship.
"So, what's the plan?" Artemis asks once we take off.
"Try not to die." I answer.
"Yep, good plan." Red agrees.
"Seriously though, should we split up or search in groups?" She presses on.
"We'd get more done if we split up." Kaldur weighs the options, "But there's also safety in numbers."
"I think pairs are the best option." Robin decides.
Megan cues in, "And I can keep a mind link up in case someone's in trouble." Then she seems to remember my little problem and adds, "I guess Percy's partner will have to keep her updated."
I shrug, "That works for me."
We all agree.
Robin then pulls up the blueprints for the warehouse and we start assigning different sections.
Robin and Wally are doing the North side of the ground floor, Artemis and Megan are doing the South.
And that leaves Kaldur and Connor to do the north side of the basement, and Red and I to the South.
Then, as we finish, the building comes into view.
..
"There's literally nothing here." Red grumbles and kicks some of the loose rocks on the floor.
"Hopefully the others are having more luck." I agree. This place doesn't just look abandoned, I'm pretty sure no one has been here for at least a couple years. I don't see how a gang with so much power would operate out of here. The power doesn't even fucking work.
Then as I'm contemplating how bad life would be without my lord and savior- the internet, I see a movement out of the corner of my eye.
Red is still complaining how much of a waste this trip is so I step closer so our feet are touching and cover his mouth with my hand.
"Shut the fuck up, someone's here." I whisper and confirm that there actually is someone here because of the movement of water particles in one of the rooms.
Then I feel a slight wetness on my hand and pull it back in horror.
"Did you just-" I whisper shout at him.
"You wouldn't let go!" He defends in the same volume.
"You didn't have to fucking lick my hand!"
"What am I supposed to do? Ask you to let go- I couldn't talk."
"Maybe tap my hand or something!"
"It was my first instin-"
"Can the both of you SHUT UP!" Another voice joins our argument.
We both turn to face the owner of the voice as we realise now is probably not the best time to be bickering. Considering we're at an evil organization's possible secret base.
The man is wearing a black cloak and hood, concealing his identity. The shadow over his face from the hood stops us from being able to see his face. But I wouldn't have been able to see much anyway considering he's standing at the end of the hallway.
Though, that doesn't stop the feeling of his eyes zeroing into me as his rough voice speaks again.
"Persephone. Just the half-blood I wanted to see."
"And you are?" I question, pulling out riptide at the mention of my full name. This bitch really wanna die.
He doesn't answer, instead he releases the typical evil villain laugh. The shoulder shake and everything.
Then he disappears and suddenly reappears right in front of me. Now I can see the faint glow of red eyes through the darkness of his hooded face.
"You'll find out soon."
All I hear is Red's faded shout as darkness swallows me.
