A long moment of stunned silence swept over the small crowd of prying villagers. After all, they had just heard that the Avatar had just brought this strange boy to them, not just the Avatar but the Avatar from almost 400 years earlier. How was that even possible? If Kyoshi could do this, why hadn't she come to save them from the hundred years of war-worn suffering?
Then again they were mere mortals; who were they to question the avatar and the spirit realm? For all they knew, Kyoshi had sent him in place of her current incarnation.

Somewhere, on a far off plane of existence, the woman in question watched in bitter guilt. No matter how much she desired to help; it was no longer in her hands. The world depended on a boy still trapped in the clutches of a frostbitten slumber. And she still had to deal with this other boy from a different world.

Finally, the silence splintered. The noble tones of the mayor were the first to be heard.
"Since we no longer view you as a threat, why don't you introduce yourself, young man?"
Izuku, still tied up and helpless, couldn't seem to keep his mouth shut.
"Seriously, that's all it took for you to believe me? An old lady told you that this 'kaiyashi' person brought me here. Who even is that anyway?"
Almost as soon as he said it his eyes widened in a mixture of realisation, regret and fear. Along with his subconscious mumblings, Izuku sometimes lost control over his brain-to-mouth filter which often landed him in hot water with Kacchan, earning him a few strategically aimed explosions.
"A-aah! I'm so sorry, please don't kill me. I.. I-I don't know what came over me p-please," Izuku stammered pathetically, trying to backtrack out of the grave his impulsive words undoubtedly dug.
"Wow kid, you sure had some huge balls a second ago, mouthing off to the people who hold your fate in their hands. Where'd they go now?" his captor sang with a scornful lilt, leaning down to snag his collar between her fingers. With a sharp tug, she barked, "now do as you're told!"
The old lady that had vouched for Izuku's innocence earlier stepped in once more in an attempt to soothe his assailant's ever-growing irritation.
"Now, now Suki, that's enough. He is just a boy after all."
Suki huffed, her scoffing sounding eerily like a certain explosive blond. Izuku became briefly lost in thoughts of his ex-best friend. He silently prayed that he wouldn't be stuck with another Bakugou here as well.
The clearing of a throat broke him from his dread-tinged thoughts.
"Well? we're waiting, aren't you going to answer the question?" Suki's impatient voice snapped, face twisted in annoyance.
"Right!" he squeaked before taking a calming breath. "Hello, I am Izuku Midoriya, I'm15 years old and a 3rd-year student at Aldera Junior High. It's nice to meet you all, though I wish it was under..." he paused searchingly, "freer?... Circumstances." A sunshine smile lit up his features. His mother had always said he was the cutest little man in the world so let's put that to the test, shall we?
~
Suki remained unconvinced. This so-called Izuku Midoriya's (if that was even his real name) awkward charm and smart mouth wouldn't fool her. She found it particularly odd how his demeanor could go from awkward, fearful, shy stuttering to cheery, confident and cheeky so quickly. This Izuku kid is weird.
'I'll definitely be keeping a closer eye on him for the foreseeable future,' Suki thought, a dubious glint in her eye as she watched over the crowd.
