"Stay put. I don't want you getting hurt by a villain."
Those were his orders.
(Y/n) knew the risks of villain attacks on the street.
The woman who was paid to stay there is friendly and sympathetic toward the mother-to-be. "Enji is a difficult man. You've managed to crack his defense just like the mistress Rei. I remember when they first met. It was a quirk marriage but they loved each other. It was pleasant for a time. He seemed to show the same feelings around you."
(Y/n) was really starting to regret this. She was selfish in thinking they could be happy together, especially when he already had a family.
That's why she decided to confess everything to Rei.
It would be better explained by her than the hero himself.
"I'll be back later. I need to go somewhere."
"But miss! The master said to stay. He will be furious when he finds I let you leave."
"He isn't going to visit. He'll be too busy with work. I don't plan to be gone for long."
The maid sighs and looks down. "Promise me you'll be safe and hurry back."
(Y/n) nods. "I will."

The woman knocks on the right door and steps in when welcomed.
"Who are you?" Rei asks kindly.
She's so pretty. (Y/n) thinks to herself. She bows deeply.
The white haired woman looks at her confused.
"I'm so sorry for what I've done. I wanted to tell you the full story before Enji could."
"My husband? What happened?" Rei asks, worried.
After explaining everything the wife remains silent.
(Y/n) stays on her knees on the floor. "He loves you; I know he does. I can see regret in his eyes sometimes. I suggested he bring you back to the estate and things might be ok. I don't expect you to accept me and the baby. I will remain at the second estate, away from your family. I'm so sorry."
Tears stream down her cheeks without her knowing it.
Rei smiles softly. "Loves me huh? I don't doubt that. He was never very good at expressing his feelings. Just anger and pride I guess. But I have a feeling you care about him. You fell in love didn't you?"
(Y/n) looks at the woman shocked.
Her mouth opens but nothing comes out.
Rei laughs quietly. "He's coarse and hard to love but I can see it in your eyes dear. You love him."
"I can't love him. He has you and the children. I don't want to be a complete homewrecker."
"Darling, if I came back, who knows what would happen. He may love me but now that you're there those feelings may change. Or maybe they already have. He may have feelings for you too."
(Y/n) looks at her quickly. "H-he..." she stutters but trails off.

A nurse knocks and walks in. "Mrs. Todoroki."
"I should go." (Y/n) whispers.
"(Y/n), welcome to the family. It may be hard but we can all be happy in due time. Tell Enji to visit in person and stop writing me letters."
The mother-to-be nods as she stands by the door. She looks away and leaves.
Rei sighs softly. "Enji, what are you feeling now? Do you truly love me? Or have you moved on with her?" She smiles softly and looks out the window.

(Y/n) takes a cab back to the estate and walks inside. She finds an angry Enji scolding the maid.
"I instructed you to keep her here. Where did she go?" Enji stands tall, fists on his hips.
"Enji Todoroki, stop yelling at her!" (Y/n) scolds walking toward the two.
They  turn to look at the woman.
"(Y/n)? Where have you been? I gave you strict orders to stay here." The fire man towers over the girl.
The mother gives him a sassy attitude. "You aren't the boss of me, mister. I can leave whenever I please."
"Where did you go?" He asks quietly.
(Y/n) frowns and looks away. "I felt overwhelmed so I went to see Rei. I explained everything."
Before she could say anything else his temper took over.
"You did what?! You don't have any right to tell her. She's my wife and deserved to hear it from me."
"You haven't visited her Enji! When were you gonna tell her? How were you gonna tell her? She accepted me and said that maybe we could all be happy. But I don't think you want that. She tried to tell me you could love me back."
The hero stands there shocked.
"Love me my ass. Sometimes I wonder if you know how to love."
More tears stream down her cheeks as she walks to her room.
She didn't know what she was saying, hormones and emotions took over.
Enji didn't know how to feel either.
Anger, betrayal and hurt.

Enji clenches his fists tightly. "I don't, do I?" He whispers, looking at his feet. "My feelings are so complicated that even I don't know what they are."
His body relaxes and the hero sighs.
"I'm sorry." He whispers and leaves. The redhead goes back to the main estate.
It proved difficult to fall asleep.
Finally after an hour he manages to slip into the darkness.

The two didn't speak again until the following month.
The maid would update Enji about (Y/n)'s condition.
The hero would sigh in relief at the repeated "nothing's changed" reply from her.
On the day of her ultrasound Enji left work early and drove her to the hospital himself.
The car ride was silent.
Neither of them knew what to say to the other, both wanting to apologize.
When they arrive Enji escorts (Y/n) and checks her in.

When the nurse takes her back he sets up the machine and squirts the gel on her bump.
"This is your first?"
"Yes."
"No."
They respond in unison.
The nurse looks between the two confused.
"He has four other children." (Y/n) clarifies and the nurse nods.
"I see," he whispers. "Well there is your baby. Moving along perfectly."
(Y/n) and Enji look at the baby and tears brim their eyes.
"And I see that you want the gender to remain unknown."
"Yes. I want it to be a surprise. Enji would you like to know? I'm not against you knowing." (Y/n) asks, looking at the hero.
The redhead shakes his head. "I'll wait as well. I'm in no hurry."
"I'm sure these next few months will pass by quicker than you think." The nurse smiles at the mother-to-be.

"I talked to the last technician and she said I'd be able to hear the heartbeat." (Y/n) looks from the screen to the nurse.
"Ah yes. This is where most fathers lose it. The sound of their child's heartbeat. I'm sure since this is your fifth child it won't be as impactful."
Once the sound echoes in the room, both parents have tears in their eyes.
(Y/n) bites her lip and looks at Enji.
Enji clenches the sheets on the bed. He knew it was a girl but he didn't want to spoil the surprise for (Y/n).
Fuyumi pops into his mind and he looks away.
(Y/n) holds his hand gently. "I didn't think a big man like you could cry." She teases.
He squeezes her hand gently. "Be quiet. I'm trying to listen." He mumbles and closes his eyes.
The heartbeat echoes in his ears.
Fears of her future quirk race through his mind.
She could have his fire power, or maybe her mother's quirk.
The possibility of his child having a quirk similar to her grandparents also came to mind.
(Y/n) cups Enji's cheek gently and uses her quirk. "I know you're worried but calm down. Enji, our child is gonna be just fine. Relax and focus on being better."
She didn't want to be too specific in front of the nurse.
The said male moves the transducer around her stomach more and takes a photo. "One for the scrapbook." He whispers and grabs the photograph.
(Y/n) holds it up to see and smiles.

Enji takes (Y/n) back to the estate and rubs her back. "Why don't you get some rest."
The woman yawns and nods. "Do you wanna feel the baby kick more? It kicks a couple times when I lay down."
"The baby needs to get comfortable every time you move." He responds and leads her to her bedroom.
She follows and changes into more comfortable clothes.
Once she gets into the bed and gets comfortable Enji sits on the bed.
He gently places his hand on her bump, just in time to feel the baby's foot then hand press against his.
(Y/n) giggles softly. "Your eyes light up Enji. When it moves or does anything. I thought that this being your fifth time would be boring but you seem to act as if it's your first."
"Because it's our first. And the possibilities are endless with this child. Not to mention the mistakes I've made with my family. I have to make things right with them, you've pushed me to realize that."
"I think deep down you've wanted to, but your pride gets in the way. You want your family back but they might not. They might think you're still some arrogant asshole."
The hero sighs but nods. "You're right."
"I know," she whispers and traces patterns on the back of his hand.
