making sure that i had everything ready to go, i made my way to greet him once he got off work. as i creeped closer to his classroom to surprise him, i heard voices spilling out of the open door. i wasn't able to pick up on what they were talking about specifically, but i recognized the two voices to be his and a woman's. seeing that my suspicions were right, i watched as the woman acted a little too friendly towards sugawara.

    "thank you so much for looking out for my son," she said, her hand resting on his arm. she had a flirtatious smile on her face as she gazed up at him. "he really looks up to you like a father."

    furrowing my eyebrows and crossing my arms, i continued to watch in silence to see what he would do. he let out an awkward chuckle and as he was about to respond, his eyes landed on me standing at his classroom's door. we made brief eye contact before i turned around and walked off, my mood turning sour from what i've witnessed.

    i heard him excuse himself and start to run after me, calling out my name. "wait! can't you just wait a moment?" he called out from behind me. "why're you walking away from me?" he asked as his hand wrapped around my arm to pull me back. "what's the matter, honey?"

    with his hand still on my arm, i turned around. trying to mask my annoyance, i calmly said, "nothing's the matter. you just seemed to be busy at the moment so i'm giving you alone time to discuss whatever you need to talk about."

    he studied me for a moment, taking in the way i was carrying myself. "y/n, we're not teenagers anymore and this isn't a movie. we're adults now, we can talk this through. what's wrong, baby?"

    frowning, i ducked my head down so he wouldn't be able to see my facial expressions. knowing him, he could probably tell that i was annoyed even if i tried not to show it. "you already know what's the matter."

    gently his hands cradled my face, urging me to look up at him. his expression gentled as he gazed back down at me. "we can't work things out if you don't say them out loud, y/n."

    pursing my lips, my annoyance from earlier started to resurface from the remembrance. "... you don't have some secret kid, do you?"

    his expression blanked for a moment as it looked like he was taken back at my question until he burst out laughing. "w-what?" he mustered through his fit. getting more annoyed, i pulled away and turned to walk back out. "wait! i'm sorry!" he called out, pulling me back to him. "i'm sorry, that just took me off guard. no, i don't have a secret love child." grumbling, i averted my gaze so i didn't have to look at his handsome face. "y/n..." his soothing tone coaxed me to look at him.

    "what?"

    with a gentle chop to the head, he said, "negativity begone."

    pouting, i rubbed my head and looked up at him. "what was that for?"

    "y/n, you're the only one for me. if i were to have children, i would have them with you. that woman was just a mother of one of my students, that's all she is to me." he gathered me up in his arms and held me to him. "you're the one that i love."

    embarrassed at his words, my face went ablaze. patting his chest, i responded, "suga, not here. we're in public!"

    he laughed and stole a sneaky kiss on the lips. "what brings you here anyway? you could have called."

    suddenly remembering why i was here in the first place, i exclaimed, "happy birthday! i wanted to surprise you and take you out to get super spicy mapo tofu!"

    his sweet smile appeared on his face and the next thing i knew, he picked me up and started charging down the hallway. "TO SPICY MAPO TOFU!!" laughing, i held onto him just in case he managed to drop me somehow. once we got outside he set me down and showered my face with kisses. "i'm so excited to eat you out later."

    getting distracted by his kisses, it took me a moment to process what just came out of his mouth. "EAT WHAT?"

    he paused and looked down at me, unashamed of what he said. a smirk tugged on his lips as he pivoted and started walking off. "TO SPICY MAPO TOFU!!"

    "EXCUSE ME? EAT WHAT?" i yelled out after him, jogging up to catch him. "DON'T YOU WALK AWAY FROM ME!"

    "MMM I'M GOING TO BE FULL TONIGHT!" he whooped, throwing his hands in the air. "MAN I'M SO LUCKY TO HAVE Y/N IN MY LIFE!"

    defeated, i couldn't help the smile on my face as he continued to cheer out loud. "i'm also so lucky to have you in my life." he turned back to look at me and the handsomest smile appeared on his face. with the sun setting behind him, i couldn't help but fall in love with the way sugawara looked at me with eyes full of love.
