Yamaguchi slightly picked up the pace, trying to put more load on his body. If he wanted to get a better player, he needed to improve his stamina first. However he couldn't do much, since boy still had to stay beside Tsukishima. Sure, he wanted to catch up on others, but feeling of leaving his boyfriend alone was hitting his head stronger.I wish he put more work into it... Boy let out a deep sigh, looking at his teammates getting further with every minute. Just go with it... it's better for him this way. Yamaguchi didn't know for sure if Tsukishima would actually be bothered by him running faster to join others and leaving him alone with his thoughts, but boy himself will feel bad about doing so. That's why a little bit forced, but still warm smile appeared on Yamaguchi's lips as he asked:
"Tsukki, we're playing with Nekoma today, right?" he looked at Tsukishima, who definitely wasn't fond of talking while running. The taller boy glanced at his boyfriend, answering with his usual emotionless question:
"And what about it?" blonde arched his eyebrow, trying to keep his breathing steady and show at least a bit of interest.
"Aren't you excited?" Yamaguchi exclaimed happily. He was waiting for this practice match for days now and couldn't help but to be agitated. However Tsukishima only shrugged in reply. Boy took it as a sign of him not wanting to talk much, since even simple jogging was already tiresome for him, and decided to continue. "Have you seen how flexible they are? I wish I could move like that..." Yamaguchi silenced for a moment, steadying the rhythm of his breathing, while thoughts of upcoming game were running through his head.
"Do you remember Kenma? Their setter?" boy threw a quick glance at Tsukishima, "He looked like he doesn't have too much stamina and isn't as strong as others, but he definitely has an amazing game sense and strategic abilities!" boy saw the blonde nodding slightly in agreement, however looking anywhere but at Yamaguchi.
Boy didn't pay much attention as the topic was heating up countless emotions inside him. Yamaguchi's cheeks lit up, he couldn't wait to play with Nekoma. A great wave of excitement washed all over him again, nearly making boy jump on the place.
"And...wait, how was his name...Lev! Lev Haiba, if I remember correctly..." Yamaguchi squinted his eyes a little, which boy tended to do, trying to remember something he wasn't too sure about, "He lacks technique for now, but is so tall!! It's insane! Does h-"
Tsukishima's deep sigh made Yamaguchi shut up and turn around to look over his shoulder. Blonde rolled his eyes, yawning. He got bored, didn't he? Yamaguchi bit his lower lip as all previous excitement disappeared. Boy got used to him not being interested in 'useless chitchat', as Tsukishima himself called that, however it still hurt him from time to time.
Chill breeze brushed over Yamaguchi's cheeks, making shiver run down his body. Boy felt like a bother again. What's the point in me being here then...? He felt uncomfortable stopping in the middle of the sentence, however Tsukishima didn't seem bothered about it at all. Moreover he looked delighted to finally jog in peace.
"Yamaguchi!" Kinoshita's voice made boy jerk his head up, "Can we talk?" he smiled lightly and made a sign for Yamaguchi to come over.
"Can I?" Yamaguchi glanced over at his boyfriend.
"Tch," Tsukishima rolled his eyes yet again and looked away, "go."
"Sorry, Tsukki," boy scratched the back of his head.
"Sorry, Tsukishima! We'll take him for a bit," Narita shouted, which made the blonde frown.
Yamaguchi ran over to the group of boys. They didn't run much faster, however it was enough to put more work into it. Now it felt like a decent morning run to the boy. He blew some of the hair off his forehead and chuckled at the awkward move.
"Need a hair tie?" Kinoshita laughed, at which Yamaguchi nodded. "Here," boy took a white hair tie from his wrist and handed it to Yamaguchi, "it's my little sister's one though, she gave me it for a good luck at the camp."
"How sweet of her," Yamaguchi giggled, with a light bow of his head, "thanks, Kinnoshita-san!" Boy looked at the small hair tie, stretching it lightly. Tsukki never liked my hair tied back... A sigh left his lips. At least now I can afford it for some time. Yamaguchi quickly made a low ponytail, keeping most of the hair away. It didn't prevent some of them eventually falling onto his eyes again, but it didn't bother that much now.
"You seemed pretty down over there, did something happen?" Ennoshita switched Yamaguchi's attention to the boys, jogging beside him.
"Nothing much, just Tsukki being himself," boy let out a tired laugh.
The older boy petted Yamaguchi on the back, "Guessed that much."
"Take a break," Narita smiled at the boy, "finish morning run with us."
Teammates smiled at visibly tired Yamaguchi, which made boy feel delighted. He nodded slightly. They understood him, helping and cheering him up. Yamaguchi could finally breathe freely with them, he could be himself without any restraints, even though some things stayed secrets even from them. It's true that he didn't want to leave Tsukishima behind, but the need of working harder and in a more pleasant atmosphere was greater.
All together boys picked up their pace and started catching up on others, bringing up random topics and throwing jokes at each other from time to time.
