Chapter seven. American beauty

“Miss Blake, what are you doing here at this hour?” Snape asked with a bitter voice.

“I’m baking a cake!” I shouted and tried to push him away. He was a lot stronger than me so I couldn’t. I just took a step to the side and prepared for running past him. He grabbed my upper arm hard and held me still.

“Ow, you’re hurting me. Let me go!” I said loudly.

“Will you just shut up, Cassidy?! You’re only getting yourself in trouble. Now come with me,” he said and pulled me down to the dungeons. I was a little scared but refused to let him know that.

He opened the door and pushed me inside before closing it behind him. Was he going to punish me now? Was he just lying before? I asked myself hundreds of those questions before Snape dragged out a chair and let me sit down. He sat on the edge of his desk in front of me.

“Miss Blake, are you trying to get yourself into trouble?” he asked.

“Yes, I like having detentions with you professor,” I said, sarcasm pouring through my words. He smirked a bit, but then his face hardened.

“Miss Blake, it’s your first week here and you’ve already had one detention and earned one more. This school is not like your old one, and you cannot do what you please. Now, is that so hard to understand?” He said with venom in his voice. He was right though. I had been doing incredibly badly, and I promised myself to do better. Follow the rules, Cass, or you get punishment.

“I’m sorry professor. I promise I’ll do better from now on,” I said with a strong American accent even though I really had a British one.

“You better. On Monday you have detention here, but I will not give you another one. Though don’t expect me to go so easy on you next time I catch you roaming the halls during night.” Snape opened the door and let me pass.

I sprinted up to my common room and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. What a night.

When I woke up the morning after I took a long shower and carefully put on makeup. It was Sunday morning so I thought I would slip into something comfy. I put on a pair of black sweats and a checked shirt.

When I got down to the common room I saw George was sitting in an armchair like a king while Ron sat in front of him on the floor writing on a piece of parchment.

“I will serve you, oh, mighty George, for tomorrow and the Tuesday after that,” George said dramatically and Ron wrote. What the hell is it with these boys?

“Uhm, what’s going on?” I asked with a tone that indicated that they were a bit…special.

“Hey, Cass! Ron lost a bet and he is to serve me for two days. My homework, my cleaning, does my bidding…” he said dreamily. I rolled my eyes at them and George held a hand over his heart as if I had hurt him.

“Cass! Why do thou roll thee eyes in such manor? It hurts,” he said and made a gesture for me to come closer. I did. “My heart is slowing down, Cass. I need to tell thou that the treasure is hidden in…” he spoke. Then he closed his eyes and rolled out his tongue, his head leaning to the side.

“’Eh! Govna’! Tell me where my gold is ‘idden!” I said in exaggerated English accent and shook him. He opened one eye and closed it suddenly. Then he rose up, opened his eyes and put a hand on my shoulder.

“Within thee, the treasure lies,” he said and made himself fall onto me so I had to catch him. I didn’t quite manage so I fell backwards onto the soft rug, barely managing to keep my head from colliding with the floor. George landed on top of me and still played dead. I just laughed at him and tried to push him off of me but he just snuggled further into my neck.
