A/N: I've gotten no feedback at all. I would love some. :)
Chapter three: Odd one out
“I don’t understand, why am I not sorted?” I asked as a tiny man led me through a back door from the Great hall to a medium sized room, full of trophies and artifacts.
“Miss, I need you to keep calm. This is nothing that hasn’t happened before,” he said. Before he was about to leave I had to ask him something.
“When? When did this happen before? Nobody seemed to recognize it,” I fought back tears that were threatening to burst out. I was so scared. What was going on?
“It happened forty five years ago. Now wait here until the sorting ceremony is over, then someone will come and talk to you,” the dwarf said before opening the door.
“Please! What’s going on? I need to know,” but he had already left.
I was left waiting there for what felt like hours, but I think it wasn’t more than one. I tried to distract myself by looking at the showcases and the fireplace, but there was that one thought that crossed my mind, over and over again; I don’t belong here. I started sweating and hyperventilating and a few tears escaped. I was too afraid to call out or go out of the room. I had been told to wait there, and I couldn’t disobey. I don’t want to be punished on my first day. I wouldn’t be surprised though if they expelled me. I didn’t fit into the houses, so what was I supposed to do?
Finally the door at the other end of the room opened and three people walked inside. One was Professor McGonagall. She had a sympathetic look on her face and I knew it was towards me. Yet everything about her screamed serious and that this woman is not to be messed with. The second one was the professor who had taken my name down and told me to wait for the first years. He still had that same blank expression on his face, and his cold black eyes were roaming the room until they found me. Then there was Professor Dumbledore. I only knew how he looked like off of a chocolate frog card I once got. He had the longest beard I had ever seen on a man. It was pearly white, and so was his long hair. He reminded me of Santa.
“Miss Blake. I am Professor Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts. This, as you probably already know, is Professor McGonagall and this one right here it Professor Snape. Now tell me exactly what happened from the moment you put on the hat and until you took it off.” Professor Dumbledore said. I was nervous, but I proceeded to tell them exactly what the hat had told me. They all listened to me until I had finished my explanation.
“I see. Miss Blake. I am afraid there is nothing we can do until the hat has made his decision. We will put you up in a private room, and you will be taking classes with every house at least once. We will try again in two days, and I hope the hat has made its choice. You’re going to be sitting with us at the teacher’s table…”
“Professor Dumbledore, can’t I just sit with my friends in Gryffindor?” I asked. I didn’t want to bring any more attention to myself than I already had.
“Very well,” Dumbledore said and I followed him out to the Great hall.
I hurried over to where I saw Luna and Neville sitting side by side. On the opposite side of the table was another redhead, a girl with a lot of brown hair and a boy with black hair and a scar on his forehead. I knew instantly who he was but I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to risk them getting the chance to bully me, even though they’re three years younger than I am.
Next to Harry Potter, the boy who lived, were the twins from the train. They looked surprised and concerned when they saw me, but one of them gave me a small smile. I’m guessing that’s Fred.
