I was on my way to the southern packs. I was in my fur. Well, stuck in it.

The southern packs were pretty beautiful, no wonder they earned good, with the tourism business. Half a year they shut their campsites. It also favored me on the little mission I was on. It was also a time where werewolves could run about freely without worrying about humans. Although these southern packs couldn't be too lenient about it.

Sometimes people were mischievous. They trespassed which led to chaos, where vampires had to be included to wipe away their memories. Pack border barriers did help to a point. With the increasing technology, shifters were at a high risk of being exposed. The lone wolves living with the humans managed themselves, weakening their wolves with silver and also putting themselves at higher risk.

Vampires and weres and other supernaturals did well together, for their own safety. Rather than fighting and killing each other, it was better if we fought our common enemies, the hunters.

Over the years the supernaturals had grown to be good friends. Some found their mates in a completely different species, so mixing and hybrids were born, giving the hunters and purists more reason to kill them.

These allies formed over the years didn't stop the blood-hungry ones. Some wanted power, some wanted revenge while the others were petty followers. Some wanted peace, it was the only way that kept the humans from finding out about us.

So the barriers helped. It maintained peace among the shifters and supernaturals.

It had turned dark when I reached the Glowing river. I caught a really good rabbit. That poor thing didn't see my wolf coming while wandering alone in the dark.

My wolf tore the rabbit quickly, enjoying every bit of it, tearing its flesh and ripping out its heart with the warm blood that poured out of it.

Satisfied wolf.

Now that dinner was done, my wolf was full and wanted to quench his thirst. So I decided to go to the Glowing river. I washed the blood off my face and then began drinking water. The Glowing river was very beautiful. Nevertheless, I was being very careful with its luminescent fauna.

They sting bad, I heard.

My wolf took a good amount of water when suddenly, we took up a scent that got my wolf's tongue to hit something sharp, it burned. It made my wolf gag with his tongue out, shaking his head rapidly.

Dammit! Stupid stingy creatures. I'm going to kill them all!

As I moved back, I jumped away from the water, only to draw more attention to the scent that invaded my nose. A scent that was long lost, or as they told me, was dead. A scent that made me and my wolf paralyze.

What kind of game was this?

Without a second thought, my wolf bolted in the direction of the scent. I gave him control at the moment. I wanted him to run as fast as possible.

This couldn't be real. However, I wanted it to be real. I wanted my family back. I couldn't believe my senses, but that did not stop us. We ran so fast that the fallen leaves flew from the ground with the wind we created, running as bullets shot from a gun. There was no stopping, absolutely nothing coming our way.

My wolf had felt the same, sharing the same feelings as me, he knew we had a sister when I shifted. Even he wanted to have his family back. Only if what I smelled was true, then we'd have our family back.
