CHAPTER 37

Violet

I was sitting on the patio, biting my nails and humming a song in my head when I saw the little version of me sneak out of the house as she came rustling with small steps from the left, sneaking quietly.

Oh another dream!

I smiled as I saw my little self checking for clear passage as she turned her head left and right and jumped thrice to check beyond the growing fencing. With a yip she ran to the gate with her tiny legs.

God, what a cute little child I was!

I followed her like a lost puppy and realized she was making her way towards the waterfall. Towards our favorite waterfall. She was careful with her steps as she always bent down to hold onto something to move down a step.

Once she reached a waterfall she let out a giggle and danced, jumping around. She began moving towards the fall taking slow and easy steps. It felt as if this place was her secret hiding or her secret soul place.

The place even calmed me somehow. This was my place. It was like I owned it.

Little Violet made her way through the soft flowing water and stood in front of the fall. I moved behind her to maybe catch her if she fell although I knew I couldn't touch her.

That little version of me seemed to be so excited, her smile not leaving her face, her dimples digging deep in her cheeks and her eyes illuminating a mischievous glint.

Fuck I was such a trouble.

I watched as she giggled and raised her right hand up to touch the waterfall.
At first I laughed thinking she was playing around but when I saw what she did I lost my footing in the water.

Just when she touched the fall, it parted in a gracious roll upwards showing me a live view of a completely different place. I stood there with my mouth parted open and my heart racing as I looked between my little version giggling and clapping her hands jumping and the waterfall that had now turned into a screen.

A big fucking screen!

I brought my complete attention to the screen that was playing in front of me. Slowy mountain peaks hid a huge stony castle atop it. The wonderous, haunting black stoney looking structure stared back at me, pulling me and keeping me captive with its splendid beauty. My heart drummed faster as I moved a few steps. The picture kept zooming in every second, pushing the clouds back, keeping me curious of what was hiding behind those clouds and snow covered mountains. The castle was all it wanted to show me.

The picture kept zooming in, taking me closer to the highest point of the castle. It stood young and bold, made of pitched black stones perfectly contrasting the soft white snow with no human or animal or even a bird in sight.

It zoomed in more and now I was able to see a huge open wall, probably a window. It inched a little closer every second. The wall was actually a window, a huge one.

I bet the view from there would be worth it.

The shiny, soft white curtains, although they looked heavy with their movement, flew gracefully with the wind covering the entire length of the window. The edges of the window were coloured in pure white, making it look like the snow itself.

The zooming paused at once, causing me to narrow my eyes and look down at the little version of me who seemed to be happy as ever.

Looking back at the screen once again, I caught a figure standing behind the white flowing curtains. It was so quick that I had to move closer and narrow my eyes at it to catch another glimpse of the person. My curiosity grew tenfold as my heart raced and banged against my chest.
