3- Files

The next day, Jones was checking for any progress on the case at the police station. After hearing that they haven't identified the murderer yet, he left to go check on Peyton. She was still in the same state as before. Oliver sat in his chair and was waiting when an officer came in with files. 

"Hey, we got some suspects. They're all linked to the Blackout group." Jones took them and thanked the officer before he left. There were 4 suspects. All male and all murderers. There were 2 with brown hair, 1 redhead, and 1 blonde. There names were George and Ryan, Thomas, and Walter. Oliver thought he would ask Peyton when she's awake so he waited. After awhile he left to get something to eat- leaving the files on his chair. 

Peyton felt so groggy and gross. She knew she needed a shower soon, but remembered the bullet that was lodged in her. It doesn't hurt as bad as before, but maybe that was the medicine talking. She opened her eyes and was met with white walls and machines next to her. She reached up and took the breathing mask off her face. Setting it down, she noticed some papers on a chair next to her with pictures clipped to the front. They were just in arms reach so she tried to get them. Great pain erupted through her side and she gasped. Finally, she grabbed ahold of the pile and brought them up. She looked at the pictures of the men and got to the last one. This man had brown hair, hazel eyes, and a stubble growing. 

Putting the files to the side, Peyton opened the file of the man who killed her family. His name was Ryan Case and was 34 years old. He's single with no family except a grandmother who lives in New York. Apparently, Ryan works for an organization called Blackout who kills people they don't like. He is trained in hand to hand combat and is good with weapons. Peyton despised this man. She hated this man. She wanted to kill him. 

Suddenly the door opened and a man with light brown hair in pants and a dark blue T-shirt with a black suit coat over it came in. He stopped in his tracks with a sandwich in hand and stared at the awake Peyton holding the file. She stared back until realizing that she was looking in the mans file and shut it and tossed it back onto the chair. She looked down at her fingers and avoided eye contact with the man. He walked up to the chair, gathered the files, and looked to Peyton.

"Hey. My name is Oliver Jones. I'm a detective," the man said. Peyton smiled and turned to him.

"I remember. I could hear you yesterday." Jones looked a little surprised, but brushed it away and smiled back. "Sorry. I-"

"Please, don't be sorry. I'm just glad to see you awake," Jones said. Peyton smiled a little before looking away. "Peyton? The file you were looking at, is he the one who-"

"Yes," Peyton interrupted. Her smile was gone and anger filled her face. 

"Thank you. You know, if you need anything, I'll be there for you. You don't have to worry."

"Thank you, Detective."

Ryan Case was just getting a beer from his fridge when the news came on the TV. 

"Just yesterday night, a family was tragically killed. The neighbors called the police due to screams and some individuals said they heard silenced gunshots throughout the home. The family consisted of 3 kids and their parents. But much to everyones surprise, the middle child of the family- Peyton Wright- survived the attack and is currently recovering at the hospital."

Ryan almost choked on his drink before setting it down more harshly than he wanted on the counter. He ran up to the TV screen and watched closely as a man carried Peyton to a gurney and the ambulance take her away. He cursed. The news man continued.

"Peyton has taken a bullet to the side and has lost a lot of blood. We hope she makes it through this and-" Ryan muted the TV and thought.

Boss is going to be mad at me. Wait, why am I worried? She's in the hospital, I'll just kill her then. Tomorrow night, I'll make sure that family is all dead. For my own sake.
