Ryan watched as guards surrounded Peyton in a matter of seconds and aimed their guns at her, ready to fire. Her body was now unconscious after Jackson yelled her name, but they couldn't do anything about it now. Soldiers fired at them and they ducked out the door and ran for the trees. Bullets whizzed past them from behind and some were coming at them from in front as well. Cole was laid down with a sniper in hand and shooting the Blackout soldiers.
"Come on, hurry up!" Ryan and Jackson ran past Cole who let a few more shots out before running after them. They all got in the van and sped off down the road. "What happened!"
Ryan cursed and Jackson punched the ceiling. "It was a trick. Leo turned against us and Peyton was hit. She almost got out, but there were too many."
Ryan's words were like poisonous gas in the van. Everyone choked on the silence.
"What do we do now," Cole asked. Ryan sighed.
"I don't know."
Peyton opened her eyes slowly and groaned in pain from the splitting headache she had. Her hands wandered around in this pitch black room as she turned on her side and took deep breaths. Getting to her hands and knees, she tried to wait out the pain in her head. Suddenly, the door opened and bright light flooded in, causing Peyton to squint and hold her hand out to block it. There was a silhouette of someone with guns strapped to their belt and little packs on their bulletproof vest. No voice came out of Peytons mouth and the mans words were melted together. He walked in and grabbed her arm and yanked her to her feet. Peyton wobbled for a second before getting her balance. She was immediately pushed out of the room and into the bright light. She came into a small hallway and the guard pushed her right and down the hall. They passed a couple of people, but they didn't give Peyton a second look as they continued on to their destination.
They came through a door on the left that led to a massive testing garage with broke down vehicles, shooting ranges, labs, and weapons. Peyton was shoved past all these things and to a shooting range. The soldiers were testing out new guns and practicing on their aiming skills. Then she saw him. Elias Pearce. Even though she didn't know the man personally, something clicked inside her and without warning, turned around, punched the guard holding her while swiping a pistol off his belt. She grabbed a knife and ran behind him- holding it to his throat and pointed the gun at Eli. People and soldiers around pulled their guns out and aimed at her. Eli turned around slowly before smirking.
"You don't want to do that," he said.
"And why not," Peyton spat at him.
"Because if you kill him, my friends surrounding you will kill you and I need you alive. Simple." Eli said this as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Why do you need me alive?"
"So many questions. Why don't you come over her and we can talk, hmm?" When Peyton didn't do anything, but glare, Eli tilted his head a little and the soldiers moved in on her. She waited until they were in arms reach before shooting the foot on one and jumping off him. She kicked 2 in the face and punched a 3rd in the stomach and kneed another one where it hurts. But only getting those, she was overrun by about 5 tackling her. They grabbed her arms and kicked to her down to her knees before the guard that took her here shoved the butt of his gun into her stomach. The air was gone in her lungs for a second before she was able to gasp for breath with her head down.
The 2 holding her arms dragged her across the floor and towards Eli. He was watching Peyton with a curious face.
"Such a fighter, aren't you?"
The guards put her down back on her knees and held her shoulders firmly so she couldn't escape.
"Look at me." Peyton kept her eyes on the floor. One of the guards pulled her head back by her hair- forcing her to look at Eli. She saw much more details up close than on the catwalks. His blue eyes were filled with curiosity and Peyton wasn't sure as to why. His dark blonde hair was perfect, not a hair out of place, and his suit had no creases in them. This was definitely someone who wants respect.
"Do you know why your here and not dead," Eli asked her. When she didn't answer, he shook his head. "So stubborn."
A guard kicked her back, making her grunt in pain. "Answer the question," they said firmly. Peyton glared at Elias.
"You want me as leverage," she growled at him. "To make me your pawn."
"Hm, hm. You, my friend, are very smart." Elias grabbed a pistol, loaded it and looked at the targets. "Let her up and leave." The guards released Peyton and walked away, leaving them alone for the moment. She stood and was surprised when Eli held the gun out to her. She hesitated, thinking this was a trick.
"I hear that you have skills. Well, let's see." Peyton slowly took the gun from his hands and looked at it. "I wouldn't do any funny business if I were you," Eli said looking at her. Peyton gripped the gun and pointed to the target and with one hand, she shot 7 bullets right in the middle of the dummy and the head.
