"So, how'd it go," Cole asked Ryan when he got back in the car.
"Ha, I guess not so good," Leo teased. Ryan sighed.
"She's the only one that could help us. We need her skills."
"You do know that this Peyton girl is like half our age, right?"
"She's more capable than you realize," Ryan said.
"Don't worry, Ryan," Jackson said. "We'll get her on our side soon."
A week earlier...
Jackson was standing while Cole and Leo were in chairs and Ryan on a couch. They were trying to find more people that could help them take out Blackout, but have been unsuccessful so far. Everyone had said no and wanted absolutely nothing to do with the small group. They said that, but were not as nice about it.
"We need a person with fighting skills for this job. And is smart," Jackson told the group. Everyone was silent with lost faces except Ryan. He was thinking hard about something.
"Ryan?" He looked up. "You got anything?"
"Sort of."
"Well, if it's someone that is able to help us then that would be great," Cole stated.
"I have someone in mind... but you're not going to like it."
"Who?"
Present
Ryan nodded in agreement as they drove off.
"Cole, you'll visit her tomorrow. Leo and Jackson, you'll go the next day. We kind of have to have her help in all this." Ryan took off the long hair wig and the blue eye contacts then looked out the window, watching buildings pass by.
Peyton had no idea why Ryan would come visit her yesterday. That was less than a 1 out of a million chance in her book. She was sitting on her bed looking at the picture of her family at the beach. This was the only thing the warden let her keep and she was grateful. Dave, the guard from yesterday, appeared in her doorway.
"You've got another visitor."
Peyton nodded and put the picture back under her pillow. She followed him back to the visiting booths and sat down. This man had light brown hair, dark eyes, a small beard growing, and was smirking a little.
"What's so funny," Peyton asked with a straight face.
"Oh nothing," the man said. He looked amused at something. Peyton glared at him. "Ryan had told me you had a real evil eye. I can see he's right."
"Quit the act. What do you want from me?"
"Well first up, I'm Cole. And we need your help."
"Give me one reason I might help Ryan and his little boy band."
"I don't know, maybe because it affects everyone's lives. Including yours."
"I don't care anymore. Leave me alone." Peyton started to get up and left the booth. She went back to her cell and laid on her bed.
Cole left the prison building and got in his car then pulled out his phone and called Ryan.
"Let me guess- she said no," he said immediately.
"Pretty much, yeah," Cole replied. Ryan sighed.
"I guess we'll have to wait and see with Leo and Jackson."
"I guess you're right."
The next day, Leo and Jackson went together to see Peyton. They sat down and waited for Peyton to come. Suddenly, someone yelled out in the halls.
"You son of a-"
Yells were heard and guards went out to assist in whatever was happening. Leo and Jackson looked at each other and laughed. The yells stopped and they heard something about the warden. A guard appeared and was pushing Peyton to their booth. He sat her down and she was glaring at the two so hard that if looks could kill...
"Who punched you," Jackson asked. Peyton had a cut on the side of her forehead that had a little blood coming out.
"You have 2 minutes," she said, monotone over the phone.
"Elias Pearce. Very powerful man and the leader of Blackout," a man with brown hair in a bun said. "This organization targets people a part of the FBI and Secret Services or if someone is just a threat to them. Ryan was kicked out after he failed to kill you and the rest of us quit after that. Just before we did though, we saw plans that were to take out the entire government and create a "Free Country"."
"The people in this organization are very dangerous and will kill you without a second thought," the other man, Leo, said who had black hair with silver in it. "We're going to try and take the entire organization down. Hopefully for good."
"And why would you need me," Peyton asked.
"As you can see, we are a little short handed."
"Not to mention your fighting skills, smarts, and determination," Jackson, the guy with the bun added.
"There's still a small problem. The man you both work with murdered my family."
"Yeah, and you tortured him."
"Oh look, your 2 minutes is up." Peyton stood from the chair and had taken a couple steps when the man with the bun yelled out for her.
"Peyton, think about your family!" She stopped dead in her tracks. Peyton looked halfway back then continued out of the room without a word.
