"ARE YOU INSANE?!" A Garrison soldier shouted, looking at the Commander with an astonished expression. "WE NEED TO EVACUATE!"

The tall, blonde man only met his frightened actions with an unbothered demeanor, staring down at him as if he were nothing more than a child having a tantrum. "If we move the people of Orvud District further within the Walls, it will only provide a bigger risk."

I was standing beside Hange, who had their arm in a sling- next to Moblit, who had met up with us when we'd arrived, initially freaking out over their wound. A fancy room with a large table was spread out before us, with the Garrison regiment on one side and the Survey Corps' Levi squad on the other.

We hadn't gotten a chance to speak, as they'd immediately been pulled away for medical treatment and solutions to fix humanity's impending doom. My stomach turned.

"The Abnormal is attracted to large numbers of people," Armin spoke up, his voice full of a surprising conviction, "if we were to evacuate the district, the Titan would only redirect his attack to more vital areas."

The Commander looked at him, surprise apparent on his face. Yet pride seemed to be there in equivalence as well. "He's right. We can put a practice drill in place as a last resort if it comes to it. That way civilian casualties will be of lower risk."

More arguments were being exchanged, but it only processed like background noise to me. My heart was beating faster by the second, and a cold shiver rippled through my spine at the incoming events- events that were going to be taking place within minutes.

"There is no more time to debate. The canons are set up on the wall, and the Titan is incoming." A brunette, blue-eyed Garrison soldier stated. With that last declaration, we began to move out, on our way to the wall.

"If that thing gets through..." Jean said, walking quickly beside me in stride with Sasha.

"We're all dead," she finished for him, frowning softly.

"Not just us, but humanity will be finished as a whole." Levi stepped past us, staring daggers in our direction. "So give your hearts, or it'll be for nothing."

I swallowed down the lump forming in my throat, looking to my other side, where Hange was moving jaggedly beside me. Time was consuming us whole, like quicksand beneath our feet.

A few minutes later we stepped off of the wooden elevator and onto the top of the wall surrounding Orvud District. Most of the Scouts and Garrison were already there, positioning themselves behind canons and fixing up defenses.

The night sky had started to lighten little by little, but it was still dark enough to need torches along the walls. Luckily enough, though, the approaching Titan was emitting mass amounts of smoke and was practically lit up like a Christmas tree. The sight wouldn't be a problem.

This is it.

After a few minutes of planning, and carrying numerous barrels full of who-knows-what for preparation, I stopped. So many battles had taken place before, but not with the same consequences as this. Not for me, at least.

"Hange."

They turned at the sound of their name, wearing their glasses now. I walked toward them urgently while the boom of cannons played out in the background in a desperate attempt to combat Reiss.

Pulling them behind a stack of wooden crates and boxes, I looked up at them. Frantic shouts and explosions were of abundance all around us, and no one seemed to pay the two of us any mind as the Titan wasn't many more paces from breaching the wall.

"Is everything okay?" They prompted, and I brushed off their concern with a quick nod. There was no more time.

"When we were on our way to rescue Eren and Historia," I began, praying for my voice not to waver, "I said I wanted to talk to you. And I never got the chance before."
