"Don't worry Luca. My men will be posted all over my place and until we can resolve this," assured Mateo. "That means Mia, you will lay low here for the next few weeks," insisted Dad. "What?! No! That's insane! I am not staying home locked up like some- some caged animal!" I reacted. "Mom???" I looked at her, pleading.
"Luca, you know you trained them for difficult circumstances such as this. Besides, she'll also have Mateo," she suggested. My Dad studied us carefully. "Fine, BUT I want Cardo with her at all times. Even in the office," he said. "Deal," replied Mateo as he shuck my Dad's hand. "BUT—" I called out, but Mateo gave me a look that said 'Don't Say Anything'. I kept quiet. "I'll be taking my leave. Goodnight everyone," he said heading towards the door.
Mateo looked back and smirked. "Good night Mia," he said as he left. I looked at everyone. "Dante, Cardo and Nico, you need to come see me tomorrow morning in my office. I have some things to discuss with you," said Dad. I took my leave and headed up to my room. The weekend went by fairly quick and Monday had arrived again. It was back to work for me.
Cardo was waiting for me at the front foyer along with my father. "Mia, please be careful," he pleaded. I gave my Dad a warm smile and nodded before heading out with Cardo.

Luca's POV:
I really didn't think it's safe for Mia to return to her intership at the Moretti Towers. I watched Mia walked out the door with Cardo. Not long after, Dante and Nico walked towards me at the front foyer. "Luca, you know it'll drive Mia nuts with all this protection," said Dante.
"I know, but what she doesn't realize is that as long as I'm alive, my priority is to protect her and the rest of this family. She'll thank me later," I said. Nico and Dante looked at each other. "Cardo will be with her at all times in her office. You two will be outside the building of Moretti Towers, looking for any suspicious activity happening," I demanded.
"Whatever you do, make sure Mia doesn't see you."

It felt weird that Cardo was following me wherever I went. The good thing was, he stood outside my office door. I dived right into my work. "Knock knock," said a familiar voice. I looked up and seen Natasha standing at my door. "Hey Queen," I smiled. Natasha walked in with folders in her arms and sat on the corner of my desk. "Sooo— how was the Charity Ball?" she asked, giving me a devious smile.
"It was fine," I said, as I continued typing away on my desktop. "I heard you and Mr. Moretti had a magical moment," she said, dropping the folders on my desk. I stopped typing and looked up at her. "I mean— it was whatever," I said nonchalantly. "Mhmmm. Also, I heard Nina lost her shit when she heard that Mateo told her he was going with you this year," she continued.
"I don't think she likes me very much," I giggled. "Girl, Nina doesn't like anyone. She thinks she's too good for everyone," replied Natasha as she laughed. "Also, Mateo caught us up with the whole video situation," she said. I furrowed my brows. "Wait a minute.. you guys know about Mateo and the— you know, Mafia thing?
Natasha laughed."I thought you knew? Mateo only hires people he trusts," she replied. I slumped back in my chair. "I've been here for 3 months and I'm now knowing about this?" I said. "Yeah, technically we all have a little bit more to do with Mateo and his company," she replied.
"Dominic isn't only his lawyer when it comes to Real Estate or closing deals; he helps Mateo get out of trouble and keeps things buried from the cops or makes them disappear. I try to keep the Media focused on all things legal and away from the Mafia business," she continued.
"When Rose isn't busy crunching numbers for Moretti Towers with accounting, she deals with dirty money. Ivan, well he's basically one of Mateo's bodyguard men and then there's Axle, Mateo's right hand man." I looked at Natasha, a bit taken back. Why is it I'm now knowing about this information? Did they not trust me enough or something? Shit, I'm literally a daughter of a Mafia Capo.
"Don't worry doll, we know about you and your family too," she said as she smiled. We sat in silence for 5 seconds and then burted out laughing. Suddenly a knock came from my office door. Natasha and I both turned around and there stood Mateo leaning against the door. "Well I'll be making my leave. Oh- these are for you by the way," she said as she left the folders at the corner of my desk.
Mateo walked in and sat at the edge of my desk where Natasha once sat. "Are you okay?" he asked. I looked at him confused and began typing away at my desktop. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I said, still focused typing. "Mia, look at me," he said with a serious, but stern voice. I stopped typing and looked at him, "Why wouldn't I be okay Mateo?" Mateo folded his arms. "I mean, the whole video thing, must be scary for you. With someone watching us and all that," he said.
"I'm fine, trust me," I assured him. Cardo walked in abruptly. "Mia, I'm going to leave you for a few minutes. I need to go downstairs to deal with something. I will be right outside the building and come back soon," he stated. I nodded and Cardo left in a hurry. Mateo and I looked at each other with confusion. *ZZZ, ZZZ!* Mateo took out his phone and looked at his text message. "Ahh fuck," he said, stressing. "Everything okay?" I asked. He nodded. "I just got a text from my father. He said one of our deals fell through. I need to go deal with this," he said.
"I'll be back in a bit Mia," he said as he left my office. I guess I'm on my own for a bit in the meanwhile..
