To say she was nervous was an understatement, it hit her like a truck once she arrived at the gym doors but she didn't show it physically not wanting the other three to know. 'Crap I'm going to mess up aren't I?' She thought.

If there was one thing that her small group of acquaintances, like she called them, took seriously was volleyball. The last time she went over to the Miya residents she saw the many awards that the twins had won over the years. Gin also talked to the girl about volleyball with 50% of their conversations talking about volleyball. The way his eyes sparkled whenever he talked about a spike he made or a clean receive whether it was during practice or an actual match or the way he would get slightly giddy when it came to the end of the day made the girl know the importance to him. (1)

If anything she wasn't nervous about failing she was nervous about letting the others down, kind of like the way she let Akari down or her grandpa or even her grandma even if her death was uncontrollable. The only thing she can control right now is doing her best not for her but for Gin and the team. That set determination into the girl's spirit with a determined look to match.

"Ya going to like it (Y/N)." Atsumu said almost like a kid about to go to a candy store. That's another thing she saw, Atsumu was the same way as Gin but with more intensity. He lives, eats, breathes, and even shits volleyball and if it were possible he'd marry a volleyball too. His passion and determination for the sport was unlike any other, even if he was an annoying dork who talked nonsense half the time his love for the sport was very admirable.

"I'm sure I will." (Y/N) said with a small tug on her lips as she walked next to the blond male who talked excitedly about volleyball and about his friend 'Omi'. All the nervousness from last night and this morning seemed to calm down whether it was her little pep talk or Atsumu blabbering but it helped.

"And we're here." Atsumu announced as the small group reached the gym entrance. It matched the whole color scheme of the school and didn't really stand out from the main building that was a few yards away. Atsumu opened the door with much excitement, too much excitement because the door slammed open making a loud noise disturbing those inside and outside.

The inside of the gym looked like a gym. The volleyball net had already been set up in the middle of the room with benches along with the court and stands for people to watch from and the aroma smelled slightly lemon-scented. The other players on the team that had arrived wore aggravated faces if looks could kill Miya Atsumu would be 10 feet under, 5 years ago.

"Welcome to the gym!" Atsumu shouted disregarding the stares and glares he was getting. He starts 'showcasing' every aspect of the gym with enthusiasm and a large grin on his face. (2)

"And this is where I sit when-" Atsumu was cut off by a hit in the head with a volleyball.

"You're talking her ear off Tsumu. Shut yer trap." Osamu said as he turned around and got ready for practice. (3)

As the twins bickered back and forth, something that (Y/N) had experienced first hand, she managed to sit on one of the benches taking everything in. It was strange really just a couple of months ago, She was depressed and vowed to herself never to become too close to anyone and she was being a manager of a volleyball team, not only that but they managed to make a good impression on her.

Kita was polite and reserved but stoic and too serious, Aran was the same as Kita but he was more out there, Akagi acted like a very mature first year despite his age, Omimi was really respectful and made sure to keep the other's in line aside from Kita, thought Atsumu was annoying he brought energy to her life almost like adding flavor to very bland chicken, Osamu he was quite a whole 180 difference from Atsumu along with Suna who together gave off a very chill vibe and how can she forget Gin.

The boy she managed to befriend on the first day, they clicked so fast as they bonded over Marvel or music. He was kind, would never hurt a fly, he saw her for who she was even if they were only friends, something that the (E/C) eyed girl didn't want to admit yet. Maybe  this was what her grandmother meant all those years ago about how there are men that actually value women and not all men are complete assholes.

[Flashback]

"Wait I don't understand so all guys are shit?" the small girl asked with a hint of confusion in her eyes. She was swiftly chopped on the head by the older woman.

"OW grandma why'd you do that?" The little girl whined as she rubbed her head.

"No cursing in my house." Her grandma explained with a scowl on her face. 'You literally just cursed too.' The little girl thought.

"As I was saying not all guys are bad, like your grandfather, yes he's a lazy fart but he sees me as his equal, he respects me and sees me the way I see him."

[Flashback over]

Sometimes she'd wish she met him instead of Akari, maybe if they would have met all the years ago things would have turned out differently. He could've met her grandparents and she could still have a piece of them next to her today. Maybe she would've fallen in love with him instead.

Shaking her head to get rid of those thoughts she focused back to the gym, Kita had finally arrived with a form in his hand as he walked towards the girl.

"I'm glad you could make it. Thank you so much for agreeing." Kita said as he bowed.

"Oh Kita you don't have to bow." (Y/N) said slightly flustered, it was amusing really Gin had shared many stories about his captain so him bowing was something out of the norm. Atsumu was even ranting from where he was in the gym.

"Right. This is the club form, I already spoke with the coaches and they agreed. They won't be present for morning practice but they should be here for the afternoon." Kita explains keeping the same face. 'Wait afternoon?' The (H/C) haired girl thought.

She had no idea what she got herself into.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) Gin literally trembles in his seat whenever it's time for practice. When he told (Y/N) he was on the starting lineup this year, she told him to do his best which immediately set a fire under him.

(2)Atsumu was genuinely excited to show (Y/N) the gym that not only is a pretty girl taken interest in something that he loves but he genuinely wants her to love volleyball the way he does.

(3) Suna was actually the one to tell Osamu to tell Atsumu to shut up, he was slightly jealous that Tsumu could talk so easily to the female protagonist so easily.
