it had stopped raining outside when your rolled over in your bed, staring at the gray sky outside your window. you'd slept for almost two hours, not because you were actually tired but because you were mentally exhausted. anyway, you picked up your phone.it rang, once you turned off airplane mode and you swiped down to see the message.
saya <3 :
wanna come to my party ( 2 hrs ago )you weren't in the mood for a party right now. your eyes were a little puffy from crying and your face all in all hurt. you rubbed it with your hands and stared at the message. she'd be disappointed if you wouldn't come.
your fingers flew over the keyboard on your phone, typing a decline nevertheless. your heart sunk even deeper when you pressed sent. you didn't want to be alone but you didn't want to see anybodyeither.
nah sorry, not in the mood
your best friend's reply didn't even take a minute. while the three dots indicated that she was typing you made your way to the bathroom, phone in your hand. a brief vibration announced an incoming message and your phone reawakened from stand-by mode again.
saya <3 :
get some distraction ( now )
saya <3 :
you shpuld come ( now )you groaned out in annoyance and threw your head back. the small lamp on the ceiling flickered and you closed your sore eyes. it'll get your head off things.
yeah, right.
considering your mirror reflection you usually wouldn't go out. but the offer to forget what happened even if it was just for a few hours, it was kind of tempting. everything would be better than to lay in your bed and cry your eyes out.
and after a few splashes of ice cold water, you felt a little bit better and wiped the water drops off the screen.
alright, i'll be there
you still weren't in the mood, but you decided to get yourself together for at least a few hours. a little distraction couldn't hurt.
you fixed your hair with a hair tie and got to work on your make-up.
the music in your ears was the only thing that kept you from crying again and you swallowed. your wardrobe literally said: "nothing to wear", but whose didn't?
you took another look at yourself in the mirror. a little sigh escaped you, noticing how shaky it was, you cupped your face harshly.
you'd cried enough already.
briefly before you'd reached your door, your phone rang again. you picked it up after staring at it for a few seconds.
„hello?" you said and glanced at the wooden door, which you were just about to open. on
the other side of the line it was loud and you could barely hear the voice speaking. „what
did you say? i can't hear you."„WHEN ARE YOU COMING?" she screamed suddenly and you'd almost dropped the phone. „jeez" you mumbled and rubbed your forehead. „i'll be there in twenty. i was just about to leave."
saya said something, but it was inaudible. „listen, saya. i can't hear you right now, so uhh...i'll see you soon, i guess." you wanted to end the short conversation when another shout reached your ears.
„OKAY! SEE YOU! THE PARTY'S AT MY HOUSE BY THE WAY!" saya added loudly
and you held your phone away from your ears. „yeah, i know. you've told me" you mumbled and hung up.she must've been drunk already.
***
the noise was to be heard from a mile away. you made your way to saya's house, hands stuffed in your pockets, guided by the colorful flashing lights that were as bright as a lighthouse.
you couldn't believe that one tiny part of you really asserted against the rest of you which didn't want to go. yet here you were, staring at the half opened front door, out of which a coupled stumbled every once in a while.
you contorted your face as the sound of gagging reached your ears and it was too near for your taste, so you eventually made your way inside.
heat and the smell of sweat and alcohol welcomed you and you scrunched your nose. it was fuller than you'd expected. people bustled in the hallway and in the individual rooms.
after a quick think, you went for the kitchen since you guessed that saya would take over the job of the barkeeper. and you were right.
when you entered the modernly furnished room, the first thing you saw was your best friend who had one arm around a boy and the other hand occupied with a bottle of some drink.
as soon as she saw you, she pushed the guy away gently and made her way to you through the little crowd separating you.
„y/n! HOLY SHIT! YOU LOOK SO HOT!" she shouted, her voice lowering a little as she reached you. „hi. thanks, you too" you replied, a weak but appreciating smile on your face.
saya hugged you tightly and gave you a little kiss on the cheek. she got especially affectionate when drunk, even though she was affectionate anyway. your smile widened a little when she offered you her bottle. „what's that?" you asked, eyeing suspiciously. your counterpart shrugged her shoulders.
she didn't even know what she was serving. typical.
she grabbed your arm, while you took a big sip of whatever was in that bottle, and
dragged you into the hallway, where it was slightly more quiet.„so, how have you been?" even though she'd had several cups of alcohol, saya was still
able to keep it serious when it came to you. your neck was tensed, you tilted your head, making your neck vertebrae crack. your best friend contorted her face at the sound.you sighed. „i'm fine...i think." no one would buy that answer, especially not saya. but for some reason she left it at that. „it's been two days now" she pointed out, fiddling her fingers while leaning against the stair railing.
two days, that wasn't a lot though.
„yeah, i know." another sip and you already felt a little dizzy. waving your hands wildly, you tried to get away from that rather depressing topic.
„let's talk about something else, shall we?" you suggested, giving her a fake smile. you bend forward to get a glimpse of the people in the kitchen. „who's that guy you were clinging to?"
a cheeky smile brightened saya's face, but she tried to wave it off. „oh, he's a nobody. pretty cute though. very funny." you chuckled, while scratching the spot below your ear.
it was a habit, which you'd developed over a year of your now ended relationship. it was a gesture of uncomfortableness that you couldn't get rid of.
„pretty much information for a nobody, don't you think?" you replied in a mocking tone. saya blushed, waving her hands at you. you watched her, leaning against the railing as well when a group of strangers passed by.
„you can go though. i'm busy with this." you raised the half empty bottle of what was probably wine and took another sip to underline what you'd just said.
saya seemed a little undecided, but agreed with herself on leaving you to the alcohol.
„i'll check on you soon!" she promised, the same cheeky smile from earlier on her
features. you just gave her an acknowledging nod and turned around to head for the living room.
