5 years later

it was a busy time for tokyo. the olympics were in full swing, the city swarmed with athletes and spectators.

and suna in the middle of it. the japanese volleyball team had just successfully ended their match against the brazilians.

suna wiped the sweat off his forehead and shook hands with atsumu. "that last spike was hardcore, is your shoulder alright?" the blonde implied, walking the middle blocker to the rim of the field.

suna circled his shoulder to test for pain. "no, i'm good" he said and followed the inviting gesture of a journalist.

"suna rintarou, japan's best middle blocker, they say!" he was greeted.
"well, i agree, but you can't tell that to the others" suna replied jokingly. the reporter joined in.

"so, back to business, mr. suna. may i ask you a few questions?"
"of course" suna said, crossing his arms.

"first off, it's undeniable that this was one of japan's strongest games!" the journalist exclaimed euphorically and posted to the emptying court. suna nodded to agree.

"yes that's right. though brazil is an honorable and strong opponent, not to underestimate" the volleyball player added. he's learned to give this talk over the years.

the reporter touched his shoulder. "mr. rintarou, can i ask you another question? a little off the topic volleyball?"

suna shrugged. "go for it."
"is it true you have a special someone also participating at these olympics here in tokyo?" he asked.

while the journalist winked at the camera, suna's face displayed confusion. "a swimmer maybe?" the man added and now, suna seemed enlightened.

"yes, right. but we broke up a while ago."

the journalist's face showed real shock. "oh, that is so sad to hear. i didn't know."

"yeah." the athlete shrugged. how would he know?

"was i right to assume it was miss y/n?"
suna nodded. "yes, we've known each other since high school."

"high school sweethearts. what a shame!" just as he looked around, the tv man spotted you.

"ah, there she is! what a coincidence!" then he turned to suna again. "is it alright with you if i get a statement from her?"

suna made an inviting gesture. "sure, go on."

the cameras overpowered you before you could reach suna. "miss y/n, we are so sorry to hear the news" the reporter said, a hand on his heart.

you had no idea what he was talking about. confused, you glanced at the middle blocker who watched the scene with pure amusement.

"ummm...what news? " you fought your way through to suna, then turned back to the
camera. the journalist seemed oddly perplexed when you kissed suna on the cheek.

"hi, rin."
he smiled at you, pulling you in by your waist. "hi."

"but-" the reporter stammered, his expression a big question mark. "mr. suna just told me you two had broken up!"
