Dearest Y/n,
I hope you made it back home safely. Things are already much drearier than before you left, even with all of the festivities and vibrant colours littering the castle halls and grounds. Minerva decided to sneak into my classroom while i was out and decorate the entire room with bright yellows and greens. Ive already had to tear down the insufferable flickering lights numerous times. I know its far too soon, and seeing as you only left just a mere 12 hours ago, I miss you. Hurry back.
Yours,
S.S.P.S. Happy Christmas.
You read over the letter, letting a soft chuckle escape as you read what Minerva did. You wished Severus had sent you are photo of the classroom. You eyes lingered on those three little words near the end of the letter. Stoic, brooding Severus Snape misses you.
You let out a tired sigh, and decided you would write him back in the morning. You were just about to head upstairs when a knock on your door stopped you. You glanced at the clock, it was already almost midnight. Your parents were definetly asleep, so it wasnt them. You grabbed your wand from the table, and stepped slowly to the door, opening it just as slow.
"Bloody hell, Albus." You huffed.
The old wizard stood there with a smile on his face. His light grey beard was braided down his chest, a few coloured tinsel could be seen wrapped around it.
"Evening professor, sorry to pop by so late." He said softly, he voice radiated calmness.
"Not at all" You said, "Please, come in."
You moved aside, letting Albus in. He let his eyes roam the decor of your home, nodding here and there in approval.
"What can I do for you, sir." You asked after closing the door, blocking the winter chill from entering any more.
"Harry Potter." Albus said, his voice a whisper. "I am under the impression that he is here."
"Ah." You said, immediately feeling tense. You did practically kidnap the poor boy from the bus station. "Yes, he is, sir."
"You're not in trouble, Y/n" Albus gave you a simple smirk. "I simply need to know what i am to tell the Dursleys. They managed to somehow send me a letter, expressing their...." Albus paused for moment, looking for the right words. "Concern, for their nephews whereabouts."
"The Dursleys? Concerned? About Harry?" You let out a laugh, shaking your head. "Harry is perfectly fine, sir. I found him sitting at the bus station, alone. The Dursleys didnt seem very concerned leaving the poor boy to find his own way home." You practically spat.
"I offered him to spend the Holiday with me, here, with my family. Not locked in some broom cupboard during his time away from Hogwarts. If the Dursleys choose to decide between having Harry there, or having him here with me, away from them then they can owl me." You could feel the rage beginning to boil over as you spoke.
You felt for Harry. He lost his parents to the Dark Lord almost twelve years ago, only to be placed in the care of such incompetent, arrogant, ignorant muggles. You couldnt understand how they could treat Harry the way that they had. Harry had only told you bits and pieces of his life at the Dursleys and it made your blood run cold. You fought every muscle in your body to not go there and obliviate any memory they had of Harry, and just keep him yourself.
"It is quite alright, Y/n." Albus peered at you over his halfmoon glasses. "Harry can and will stay here for his Holiday vacation. If that is, of course, alright with you."
"Obviously, sir. Is that even a proper queation?" You laughed.
"Right then. Again, I am very sorry for bothering you so late at night, Y/n. Tell young Harry I said Happy Christmas, will you?" Albus turned to the door, his hand rested the knob.
"Of course, Albus. And a Happy Christmas to you as well." You bid the wizard an good night.
"Fuck the Dursleys. " You grumbled as you stomped upstairs to your room.
