You woke early in the morning, hoping to sneak down stairs before Harry got up, wanting to make him and yourself a large Christmas breakfast. Though, to your surprise, Harry was already up and in the kitchen, eggs on two plates with bacon and chopped potatoes. He gave you shy smile as you entered, the aroma of his cooking filled your nostrils.
"I thought I told you, you weren't to be doing anything while staying here. You are a guest Mr. Potter, or did you forget." You smirked at the young boy as he set the two plates down on the dining table.
" I didn't forget, Professor." He said, averting his eyes from your stare. "I just wanted to do something nice for you since you are letting me stay for the Holiday."
"That is very sweet of you." You smiled as you walked up to the stove, grabbing the spatula from Harrys hand. "Sit."
"You first." Harry smirked.
"Cheeky thing, you are" You chuckled.
The two of you sat down and ate the delicious food Harry had made. You were taken back at how well he could cook, wondering just how much his Aunt and Uncle really made him do. The eggs were perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of seasonings, the bacon was crispy and practically melted in your mouth as you chewed. You gave Harry a wide eyed look of approval as you took a bite of the small square potatoes. The onions and parsley mixed in harmony in your mouth as you chewed. Harry smiled proudly as you savored every bite, humming with every bite.
"Harry, if I didn't know any better, I would say you used magic to make this amazing meal." You laughed as you cleared the table.
"No magic, Professor. Just pure skill" Harry laughed, helping you clean the kitchen.
Harry excused himself, going to his room to change for the day. You sat at the table, grabbing your quill and inkwell from the living area, and began writing a letter back to Severus. You smiled as the quill glided across the parchment, your thoughts taking form in beautiful strokes.
Severus,
I did in fact arrive home safely, thank you. I can only imagine what your classroom looks like after Minerva graced the place with her Holiday touches. I do wish you had attached a photo, instead of making me picture it in my head. Things here are quiet, even with the infamous Harry Potter. I Hope you have a swell Holiday. Try not to torture the students too much, it is Christmas after all.
Yours,
Y/n.
P.S. I miss you too.
You smiled softly to yourself as you finished writing, tucking the parchment into its bed in the envelope. Walking over to the window, you whistled to your owl. Within seconds, you could hear its thrill hooting as he flew towards you. When it landed on the window sill you gave it a treat before handing it the letter.
"Bring this to Severus, please Lula." You said, stroking its feathered head.
"Professor Snape?"
Harry was standing in the door way to the kitchen. You hadn't noticed he was there, giving you a small scare.
"You're sending letters back and forth with Professor Snape?" He questioned again, one eyebrow raised.
"You ready?" You said, changing the subject and avoiding the question.
"I am" Harry smiled widely. He wore a knitted sweater with his initials stitched into the chest that seemed two sizes to big, and a pair of old hand-me-down jeans.
"Alright, let me just get changed and we'll go."
