I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I took it out to see a notification, from my mom.

[Mom: Hey, honey, would you like to eat dinner together tonight, just me and you?]

That was weird. She didn't usually ask me to do things with her alone.

[Sure] -Sent

[Mom: Okay, how about at 8? It's late for dinner, but I have something to do beforehand.]

[Okay, that's fine.] -Sent

I put my phone back in my pocket. There wasn't practice today. I didn't know why. There just wasn't. I was waiting for Tadashi, where I usually waited for him, but he wasn't showing up. I leaned my shoulder against the brick wall. I hadn't been to his house once this week, which was unusual.

He was at school that day, so he would have to show up soon, right?

Right?

I waited for a few more minutes before turning around to go home. I gasped at the sight of a person standing so close to me.

"Damnit, Tadashi, why were you standing there?"

"To scare you," he smiled.

"You succeeded."

We stood there for a moment, the shorter boy smiling at me with no words.

"Do you want to sleep over my house tonight?"

"Why? Have you been missing me all week?" I teased. Tadashi blushed. "I can't, not tonight. My mom wants to eat dinner with me and talk, I don't know. Maybe tomorrow night, hm?"

"Okay."

"I can go to your house for a little while, though, a couple hours at most. I'd have to get some homework done there, though."

"Oh, can you do that?"

"Yeah, I'll leave around six thirty. I'm eating late tonight, so it gives time."

"Okay, that sounds good."

He smiled. I looked at the ground. I didn't know why his smile made me feel all weird just then, but it did. I think he noticed too.

We agreed that going to his house sooner rather than just standing there was a good idea, so we did that. We made it to his house, went to his room, the norm.

"I have to do my homework," I reminded. He nodded at me.

"I should probably get some done, too."

I sat on his bed with my bookbag and pulled out my laptop and binder for math. Tadashi placed himself next to me, lacking certain materials required for certain activities he said he was going to do.

"I thought you said you were going to do your homework," I side-eyed.

"I don't really wanna," he half-whined. I looked at him for a moment with one eyebrow up, then back at my page. He got closer to me, now touching me. "I have a better idea.."

"Tadashi, you don't have to do your homework, but I do."

"But- only for a minute?"

"No. Not today."

"But Tsukki!" He whined. I looked at him again. I probably shouldn't have. His lips were pouty, eyes begging, I guess for me. I shook my head and looked back at my laptop.
