I looked around the basement, seeing if there was hints of anything in eyeshot. Then I looked behind the couch. Nothing. Counter. Nothing.
I heard some steps, followed by giggling.
"You're fucking dead now," I sighed, slightly out of breath. I ran up the stairs and had a choice: right or left. Left. The kitchen. There weren't very many hiding places, but that meant I could check faster.
I swiftly walked around the island, being quiet to listen for breathing or other noise.
I walked to the dining room. Nothing under the table.
I heard laughing. Very faint laughing.
"I can hear you, you know."
I walked back into the kitchen. There was still no one.
Tadashi wasn't very short. But he wasn't very tall, so could he have fit in a cabinet?
I then heard steps from behind me. Apparently not.
"How...?" I muttered as I ran to the stairs once more.
"Come on, Tsukki," a voice taunted from below. I looked down to see Tadashi staring at me with a smirk and furrowed eyebrows. I quickly ran down the carpeted stairs. He ran out of sight, but I saw which direction he went. Unfortunately, my basement was a circle, with the stairs in the middle.
I closed the door opposite to the direction he went in, so I could hear if he left, then started tearing everything apart looking for him.
"Tadashi," I sang calmly, a descending diminished third, "come on, you're cornered."
I stood still, my guard up and senses at their peaks.
The door opened. I ran towards it and heard many steps up the stairs, before a thud and panicked moving.
Tadashi slipped on a stair, giving me the time I needed to get to him.
Tadashi still resisted.
"You lost, prince, come on. Are you okay?"
I watched as Tadashi's face turned a light pink, his hand covering it. "Um, I don't know."
"Are you hurt? Let's get off of the stairs."
"Can you carry me?"
"I know you're not that hurt, but since I'm so nice..."
I picked him up, his chin on my shoulder and arms draped over me, and carried him up the stairs.
He bugged me to let go, which I thought was weird.
As his contact left, my legs caught my balance. He pushed himself off of me and ran into my room. I ran after him, hoping to push the door before it latched, or twist the doorknob before it locked. Both failed.
I had my hand on the knob, waiting for the click of the unlocking door.
"How are you going to lock me out of my own room?"
"Do you remember that time," he dodged, "a long time ago, I don't know, we must have been dating already, when we played Uno in here?"
"You're gonna have to be a bit more specific."
"When I opened your nightstand, and y-"
"Oh, yes, I remember." I didn't understand the relevance.
"I was just thinking, you can't stop me from seeing what it is right now."
"If you let me in, I can just show you myself, a personal tour of the drawer."
"Really?" I heard the smile in his voice.
