"Seriously where is this girl!" Chaerin muttered to herself as she knocked on the door of Soyeon's house again. Dried up tears staining her cheeks as her knuckles went red from knocking on the door for so long. She was in dire need of company. She had never experienced a break up before and seeing that mark had already moved on only hurt her even more. She needed someone to tell her that she was okay.

A faint ding from her phone stopped her from kicking her door down and she looked at the device to see a message from Soyeon explaining that she was out on a family dinner.

Sighing, Chaerin turned away from the closed door and walked down the steps but shuddered when she heard the door from the house across her slam.

“I swear to god haechan if you fail another one of your tests again i will make sure to book you the next flight to a boarding school in UK. this family’s reputation matters”

“If you care so much about this family’s reputation then you wouldn’t be sleeping with every girl y-”

“Lee donghyuck don’t you ever talk to your father like that again”

“Why are you defending him? All he ever does does for this family is ruin it! Ever since you married him he has been using our family’s title to-”

Before haechan could continue his statement further, the resounding sound of a harsh slap echoed around the neighbourhood

“This is your final warning donghyuck. If i don’t see a change in you i will make sure to change you” and with that, the man in the suit and the woman in a flowy satin dress entered a black car and sped off leaving haechan in deep thought on his porch. Angrily throwing the piece of paper given to him from his parents that was in his hand, he gripped his hair in frustration.

Chaerin placed her hands in her jacket pocket, crossing the road and walking up to his porch. Picking up the piece of paper she read the advertisement for a Catholic boarding school for boys in London.

“Jesus are they trying to make you join a cult?” she asked with a scoff making him glare at her

“Not now. Just please fuck off” he said looking at her with annoyance, trying to calm him breaths down.

“I know what it feels like” she said with a sympathetic smile

“My parents are like that too. It’s suffocating” she said, walking up the stairs towards him

“That looks painful” she said reaching a hand up to his face but he just flinched away from her touch in annoyance.

“What the fuck are you still doing on my porch, didn’t i tell you to get lost?” he asked, slitting his eyes in her direction.

“Yeah well i never really listened to you” she said, dragging him into the house through the door which was left unlocked. She pitied him because she also went through the same thing with her parents. All they cared about was their reputation.

Dragging Haechan towards the kitchen island table, she rooted through his kitchen cupboards to find the first aid kit while he stared at the leaflet for the boarding school, a mixed feeling of betrayal in his stomach as he thought about how eager his parents were to send him away.

"I can't believe you of all people have shin chan plasters" she said with a chuckle as she took a clean cotton swab and dipped it into the alcohol bottle. He ignored her, feeling too clouded with his frustration, evening ignoring the irritation that came from the sting of the alcohol on his cut.

Chaerin placed the colourful cartoon covered plaster on his face over the cut he had received from the slap of his father before closing the first aid kit and placing it back where she found it. When she returned back she sighed as haechan remained in the same position, looking at the crumpled leaflet with an unreadable expression.

She walked over to the table and grabbed it from the surface making him divert his eyes to her, who was now ripping the leaflet into smaller pieces before chucking it into the bin.

“If its bothering you, get rid of it” she said turning back towards him as his eyes followed her actions.

“You’re bothering me, why don’t i get of you too” he said making her roll her eyes

“Fine, i’ll leave” she said placing her hands in her pockets, turning around on her heel.

“Why did you help me in the first place?” he asked making her freeze and turn around. Why did she help him?

“Well…..i felt bad...it sucks when parents only care about your grades and their reputation” she said, thinking hard more for herself.

“Well...there’s nothing i can do. My grades are beyond salvageable and i better start packing to that stupid catholic school. Maybe its best if i left anyway, im not doing anything useful here anyway” he said, pressing his lips into a thin line.

“What? You can’t leave….who else am i going to piss off in the halls?” she said with a fake gasp making him scoff

“Find yourself another boy toy, jeno seems pretty whipped for you” he said rolling his eyes

“And that annoys you?” she asked with a smirk, poking her head to the side

“Yeah it does, seeing one of my mates simping for a girl who has nothing to offer” he said making her scoff

“You think i’m just all brains don’t you” she asked and he nodded, crossing his arms over his chest

“Glad you’re smart enough to figure that out” he said with a sarcastic wink
