“Dude why are you not going fucking mental about this? This is big!” Soyeon asked looking at the picture of mark that went around the school as everyone found out that he was back. Whispers went around the school as Chaerin entered the doors that day, rumours of the fact that her and Mark would get back together. It tired her out. Constantly putting a smile on her face and acting as if other people's opinions didn't get to her, but they did. Can't people respect her private life? Can she not do anything for herself without the whole world finding out?

“Soyeon, i can’t do this anymore okay? I can not keep moping about some guy who broke my heart. I can’t spend hours reading up on gossip. 2 days ago i literally forgot to apply to college! Do you understand?” she finally snapped. Out of everyone in this world her own best friend didn't know that she was not in the mindset to talk about this.

“Chae calm down, it was just the early admissions deadline, you can still get in” Soyeon said nervously as people began to pay attention to what was happening at the front of the classroom.

“SNU has been my dream university since i was 8 and yesterday i found my dream crumpled up in my bag under my history textbook and my physics homework, which by the way, i got a B on..a B! i’m not letting mark take this away from me as well”

“Chae-”

“Just go...i don’t want to talk to anyone right now” she said placing her phone onto the desk and connecting music to her airpods, blocking out the rest of the world. Soyeon sighed and left the room to her own class feeling upset about Chaerin starting to block her out.

Haechan immediately raised his eyebrow at Chaerin who continued to look through her history book, trying to prepare herself for the midterm that was coming up in an hours time. Looking over at jaemin who was also somewhat studying, somewhat gaming. He got out of his seat and walked towards Chaerin's desk. He was about to do the usual and piss her off but something about her today was off.

“Hey, you okay?” haechan asked, pulling out the empty chair at the table next to her and sitting beside chaerin, getting the stares of some students on both of them however most had their heads in their books for study.

“Chaerin i asked you a ques-”

“Can you just fuck off?! Everyone’s already staring at me because of mark being back! I don’t need to give them another reason to talk about me!” she shouted, standing up from her seat making haechan gulp at her as the class went silent. He had never seen her react this way to anyone, let alone him. Her cheeks were flushed red with bloodshot eyes above them and just looking at her made him sad.

“Chaerin! Outside. Now!” the homeroom teacher said and she squeezed her eyes shut in realisation of what she had done. Now everyone was staring up at her, some of then already typing on their phones to spread the gossip around.

“Sir it was my fau-”

“I was not talking to you haechan” the teacher said interrupting haechan before he could take the blame.

“Chaerin i will not repeat myself, step outside right now!” the teacher said and chaerin walked out of the classroom quietly, ignoring the whispers of her classmates.

With the confused home room teacher lecturing her for using bad words in the school environment, she could tell he was surprised himself by her sudden outburst. It had never happened before. Luckily she blamed it on exam stress and he let her off easy.

Rushing up to the rooftop, she decided to catch some fresh air instead of going back into a room only to be met with curious stares and judgemental glares.

“Chaerin….what the hell is going on?” a voice asked from behind her a few minutes after, and the turned to Haechan rushing up to her. Stopping her from pacing around the rooftop as an attempt to blow off some steam, his eyes scanned over her body just to make sure she was okay.

“I dont know...i’m just processing” she said and his grip loosening as his eyed started to stare into her now.

“....well can you process out loud- why the hell is mark here?!" Haechan hissed, realising that she and already knew about this and didn't tell him anything.

“He’s back...he’s back for good” she said making him sigh as he finally understood why she looked so upset and down today.

“Has he tried to talk to you?” he asked, stepping closer to her, not really caring much at the moment if anyone was to find them together.

“.....haechan” she mumbled, her voice trembling as she slowly placed her head  on his chest. His heart did a full flip at the feeling of her body trembling against his more stable one.

She was fragile. More fragile than the glasses he would drink from, more fragile than a new born baby, she was exposed. And it seemed right now that he was the only one who could help her ease the pain.

“What? Tell me what’s going on in this….complex brain of yours” he said making her chuckle before they had slowly turned into sobs. By now his hands were tightly wrapped around her as she cried into his black T-shirt, one hand on her head as he comfortingly rubbed his hand down the length of her hair.

“It hurts” she cried clinging onto him and balling fists out of his thing shirt. He didn't know what to say...if he even should say anything.

“I know….i know, i’ve got you” haechan said trying to comfort her but instead it made her pull away

“No...no you don’t” she said eyeing him as he looked at her with soft eyes

“Maybe you do whenever we’re at your place or mine but you can't here...that’s the deal right?” she said and he shook his head, taking on of his hands up to her jaws, slowly allowing it to cup the side of her face.

“no ...chaerin we can change that...-i...we dont have to keep it a secret if you-”

“With my parents finding out that mark is back? Do you really think we have a chance haechan? They were so against me breaking up with him even if it was for the best” she said with a sigh

“Can we...talk about this later?” haechan asked

“I don’t think that’s a good idea hae-”

“Well i do, come over to my place, 7pm” haechan said with a small smile, squeezing her hand and she contemplated. He didn't wait for her answer. He didn't need to.

If she came, she wanted him as much as he wanted her. If she didn't, then haechan would know her true feelings.

Slowly kissing the top of her forehead, he walked away from the rooftop and down towards the classrooms. He had no problem ignoring the stares that were on him but he knew Chaerin would.

"What? Don't you guys have a test to care about? Mind your own business!" He shouted, making many of his classmates jump before they put their head in their books to avoid his stern gaze. Walking over to his seat he looked at Jaemin who looked at him with a smirk, as if he knew all along what was going on with Haechan and Chaerin and he did. He was already catching on to the news before Haechan had to say anything.

When Chaerin returned to the classroom, no one dared to look up at her as they feared they would trigger a reaction in haechan. She furrowed her brows and sat down at her usual spot. Turning around from her chair, she looked towards haechan who gave her a wink and mouthed 'good luck'.

"Okay, put your things away. Only pens and water by the desks, your final midterms are starting now"
