You lay next to Roger in bed, tracing circles in his. bare chest. Your head tucked in the crook of his neck.

"Roger," you said, shifting in your place so you could see his face better. "Yes love?" He groaned. "There's a song I'd like you to hear, may I play it?" You ask. "Of course." He said, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.

You smiled as you got up and approached the record player that sat in your bedroom, it was almost never used.
You pulled out the Melephobia disc and gently placed it onto the player. Cigarette Daydream started playing, and you happily waltzed back over to the bed, resuming your affection for Roger.

Did you stand there all alone?
Oh I cannot explain what's goin' down
I can see you standing next to me
In and out
Somewhere else right now

You sigh, look away
I can see it clear as day

You tucked your head deeper into his chest as you curled into a ball against him.

Close your eyes, so afraid
Hide behind that baby face

Do do do do do doooo...

You squeezed your eyes shut as you slowly started to cry, you weren't even sure why. You just did.

Roger didn't question it, even though he began to worry. He stroked your hair with his hands while slowly and softly saying "Shhh shhh...it's okay. Everything will be okay. You're here with me, you're safe. I love you, y/n."

You cried harder as his words sank into you, the meaning behind them becoming clearer and clearer every time you repeated them in your head.

You can drive all night
Looking for the answers in the pouring rain
You wanna find a piece of mind
Looking for the answers

Your tears wetted his bare shoulders. He rubbed your back, reassuring you. "I hope you know that i'm here for you. I know you get stressed out easily, it gets too much sometimes. I get it. I'm sorry you have to go through that, and i wish that you could flow through life and these bastards would leave you alone. I love you, and nothing will ever change that."

You looked up at him, he planted a kiss on your forehead and held your cheeks in his hands. "Hey," he said. "It's okay. Everything will be just fine." He gave me a sad smile and wiped my cheek, ridding it of the tears.

Funny how it seems like yesterday
As i recall, you were looking out of place
Gathered up your things and slipped away
No time at all I followed you into the hall
Cigarette daydream
You were only seventeen
soft speak with a mean streak
Nearly brought me to my knees

"You know, that line right there, that reminds me of something. Do you remember when we first met?" He asked, the memory popping right back into my head. You nodded. "Roger," You said. "Tell me the story, leave no details out.

He sighed.

"Well, we had a gig at a bar downtown. This was back with Smile, though. When we first started we had little money, i was broke as shit at the time. We were playing Doing All Right when i noticed you sitting at a table with some friends of yours. I looked at them but they didn't seem as interesting as you. You had this...scarlet red dress on. It was gorgeous on you. I remember almost forgetting to play when i saw you, you were this shining diamond next to a bunch of rocks. After the gig ended, i made my why over to you. I made a move, and that night we got shitfaced together and had a really deep conversation. We exchanged numbers and you called the next morning, and we went out to breakfast. And...things moved on from there."

You looked up at him adoringly. He remembered every detail.

For some reason that thought humbled you, you smiled up at him before he asked "What are you so happy about?" You chuckled. "How did I get so lucky to end up with you."

If we could find a reason, a reason to change
Looking for the answer
If you could find a reason, a reason to stay
Standing in the pouring rain

The song ended, leaving us in silence.

"I love you, y/n."

"I love you unconditionally, Roger."
