Third person POV

It’s that day of the year where I accompany grandma to the memorial park. I’ve been doing it for years that it became part of my life and I’m looking forward to it every year.

My grandma was actually well-known here in our district back in her prime years. Clove Kentwell, Victor of the 74th Hunger Games is my grandma. She used to live at the Victor’s Village but now lives with us because of her old age. She doesn’t have a family of her own. Some says the reason why she’s unwed is because of her strong personality or how intimidating she was. I beg to differ, there’s something that people doesn’t know about her.

“Ready to go?” I asked, she nods happily at me and hooked her arm in mine.

“I picked these special ones and arranged them beautifully for today.” I told her as I handed the colorful hydrangea flowers to her and she took it with delight.

It didn’t took to long for us to arrive at the memorial park. I watch her as she slowly lay the flowers on the grave. Grandma’s memory is starting to decline, she tends to forget a lot of things and some days she even forgot her own name. But not today.

She still remembers his birthday.

The headstone reads Cato Hadley. He was grandma’s co-tribute during the games. Some may say that it was a survivor’s guilt or maybe they’re friends somehow that’s why she visits his grave, but it did last for years up until now. That’s when I know how much he meant to her. I remembered she told me the reason why she chose to give him hydrangea was because he used to give it to her in secret.

“Grandma, who is Cato?” I asked her, wanting to test if she can still remember.

She didn’t take her eyes off his grave. “Someone special.” she answered loud enough for me to hear.

He was and will always be the special someone for her.

A/n:
Sorry I had to ruin the mood from my previous updates. This idea just came into mind. Wanted to write something about Clove becoming the victor. Next update will be Cato, and it's going to ruin the mood as well. Sorry :(
