Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
Drops of water were descending from the tip of the stalactites situated at the roof of the cave.
The reverberations of this pulsating rhythm echoed throughout the wide expanse of this eerie chamber.
It was pitch-black; the vicinity harbored no source of light to procure a field of vision for the visages of human optical organs.
Nevertheless, there were animate objects present within the caliginous purlieu of this cavern. Unfortunately, while they carried the demeanor and bearing of human beings, the configurations of their musculature, from their overall pigmentation to their countenance, and protrusions along the surface of their skin, provided an apparent observation that—while they possessed the rudimentary composition of the human anatomy in terms of being bipedal, having arms, legs, and whatnot—they were anything but human.
These were demonic creatures of the night.
At the moment, there were four of them. A man, a woman, a girl, and a strange creature.
"It appears we have visitors," the man spoke up, his voice calm and composed—traits one would hardly find in a demon.
"I thought we had already taken care of them," a feminine phonetic constitution noted—it was the girl. Based on the volume and tone of her comment, one can infer that she was as cool-headed as her male counterpart. However, while she exuded a sense of equanimity, she also emanated a hint of dither and uneasiness that seemed to be indicative of her inherent nature—whatever that may be.
In essence, the girl was prone to vacillation and emotional outbursts.
"The explosive wasn't enough," the man replied.
"Why, of course, it wasn't~," a woman called out, her more mature manners exhibited a very seductive and immodest attitude—as if she was attempting to replicate the characteristics and archetypes of a luscious, sexually attractive, licentious woman. "Something as simple as that is too weak against these sorts."
"And whose idea was it to rely on that device?" the girl ripostes.
"Well, I did have trust in your abilities. But I suppose we all have our limits when it comes to sleep-inducing spells~" the woman patronized.
