Giyuu

It was a cold night.

The air was crisp and the resulting, heavy atmosphere was almost suffocating.

With every rasp of breath came the manifestation of such endeavors into a conspicuous puff of condensation.

The icy cold conditions were, in fact, potent enough to sting the very lungs of any animate being.

Such extenuating circumstances have induced all the residents—irrespective of their occupation in the nighttime—to sequester themselves inside the individual comforts of their insulated, protective abodes.

My sister and I were, of course, no exception.

But this particular night is a unique, special occasion worthy of celebration.

For, upon this fateful night, Tomioka Tsutako and Satō Eito are due to be betrothed in the following day.

The ceremony for the exchange of vows, the ascertaining of their love, and the promise of an eternal companionship—otherwise known as marriage—are all awaiting a fabulous deliverance whence the bright, warm sunlight makes its magnificent glow upon the Earth.

The exordium to a new passage in the lovers' young, transformative lives.

Thus, to honor this joyous development, Nee-san and Eito-san both left to attend a festive, scrumptious feast at the Satō household.

I was invited—and the two insisted that I come along—but I refused thanks to my inability to adapt to socially intensive environments; I don't like going to parties or being the center of attention.

So, I was home alone for a couple of hours before Nee-san, escorted by Eito-san, returned from her conference with our soon-to-be, In-Law family.

*Rattle*

The entrance door slid open and the couple sauntered inside.

"Welcome back," I came to greet them.

"Ah, Giyuu, tadaima," Nee-san answered.

"Hey, Giyuu-san," Eito reciprocated.

I merely nodded, "How was it?"

"Very nice," Nee-san said as she unfastens her footwear while in the Genkan section of the entrance.

"Very boring," Eito-san, meanwhile, answered in an exasperated fashion.
