"A good basketball game can have us all on the edge of our seats. Games are all about the glory, pain and the play by play. And then there are the more solitary games. The games we each play all by ourselves. The social games, the mind games. We use them to pass the time to make life more interesting...to distract us from what's really going on. There are those of us who love to play games, any game. And there are those of us who love to play a little too much. Life is not a spectator sport. Win, lose, or draw, the game is in progress whether we want it to be or not. So go ahead...argue with the ref, change the rules, cheat a little, take a break and tend to your wounds. But play. Play. Play hard, play fast...play loose and free. Play as if there's no tomorrow. Okay, so it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game...right?"

"we're a half-written story without any ending. you left me to figure it out. filled me with ectasy, left with the best of me. but where's the rest of me now?"

Lucy fried bacon in Alex's apartment. "Meredith broke George and George broke Holly. It's crazy, right?" Lucy said to Alex who sat across from her. "Yeah", he replied, uninterested.

"First, he chops off his hair and now he's hogging my mentor. And Meredith's taken a vow of celibacy. Maybe I should take a vow of celibacy"

"Ha ha, very funny. That wouldn't really work in my favor, would it?"

"Nope"

Alex kissed her forehead and went to get dressed.

"Molly Thompson, pregnant, baby was diagnosed with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia", Holly presented. "Hi, Molly, Susan, I'm Dr Montgomery Shepherd", Addison greeted. "I don't mean to put pressure on you but please save my grandchild", Susan said. "Sorry, I can be a bit of a mother lion".

"I'm the best so I can fix it with a fetal surgery. I have a strong record for the surgery"

They left the room. "Kepner, O'Malley, I'll need those MRI results as soon as possible", Addison said. Holly noticed a man who was looking a little lost. "Is Meredith Grey working today?" the man asked. "Yes, I can have someone page her if you'd like", Holly suggested.

"No, no, it's fine"

"Can I have your name, please?"

"Thatcher. Thatcher Grey but I don't want Meredith paged because it's complicated"

Izzie approached Lucy and Meredith. "George had a date game night with Callie who didn't take him home afterwards", Izzie said. "Iz, they weren't on a date, they're friends. He's still hung up on Holly, remember?" Lucy said.

"I just find it weird"

"George doesn't want me in his life", Meredith said. "Mer, you know that's not true", Lucy reassured. "I think she's hiding something", Izzie said. "That's none of your business, she's a great person", Lucy said.

"You date her, then"

"I have a boyfriend"

"Yeah, evil spawn"

"Stop calling him that"

Callie came over and handed them pieces of equipment. "You're all on ortho today", she said.

While reducing a hip dislocation, Izzie bombarded Callie with questions. "Iz, quit it", Lucy said. "I just want to know because I'm George's best friend", Izzie said. Lucy rolled her eyes. "I find that funny", Callie said. "Because from what I've heard, you're not the best matchmaker". Lucy snickered while Meredith rolled her eyes.

Addison passed by George and Holly. "MRI results?" she asked. "Not yet", George replied.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't throw you two off the case"

"Molly is Meredith's half-sister", Holly said. "Meredith doesn't know Molly exists". "Apparently God hates me", George said. "Because I'm on the case while trying to avoid Meredith".

As they saw Richard get up, Meredith, Cristina and Lucy approached the lunch table where Izzie and George sat. When they sat down, George got up. "I can accept rejection now because I have my knitting", Meredith said. "I think I saw my father earlier. "Have you met your sister?" Cristina bluntly asked. "Sister?!" Lucy questioned.

Meredith entered the room where Callie, Lucy and Izzie were. "I need some bones to smash", Meredith said. Callie pointed her to a cast that could be demolished. "So you and George are friends?" Izzie asked. "Oh my god, enough!" Lucy half-yelled. "Izzie, just stop it. Stop talking. No one cares what you have to say, because everything that is coming out of your mouth is either rude or utter bullshit. Just shut up! If you don't mind, Dr Torres, I'll just take a very short break to catch my breath". "No problem", Callie said, glaring at Izzie.

"Do you even know what you're doing?" Lucy asked, as her and Alex played chess. "Nope. You?" Alex asked.

"Nope"

"Wanna do something else?"

"What did you have in mind?"

He smirked before clearing the chess board, leaning in and kissing her.

Holly walked past George on the bench outside the hospital. She stopped for a second and stood still, unable to move. She turned to him. "Goodnight, George", she said, before walking off. "Goodnight", he whispered as he watched her walk away.
