"The key to being a successful intern is what we give up: sleep, friends and a normal life. We sacrifice it all for that one amazing moment, that moment when you can legally call yourself a surgeon. There are days that make the sacrifices seem worthwhile. And then there are the days where everything feels like a sacrifice. And then there are the sacrifices that you can't even figure out why you're making. A wise man once said-"You can have anything in life if you're willing to sacrifice everything else for it". What he meant is nothing comes without a price. So before you go into battle, you better decide how much you're willing to lose. Too often going after what feels good means letting go of what you know is right. And letting someone in means abandoning the walls you've spent a lifetime building. Of course the toughest sacrifices are the ones we don't see coming. When we don't have time to come up with a strategy to pick sides...or to measure the potential loss. When that happens, when the battle chooses us, and not the other way around, that's when the sacrifice can turn out to be more than we can bear".

"i never had nobody and no road home. i wanna be somebody to someone"

"Lucy", Alex whispered in his sleeping girlfriend's ear. She opened her eyes slowly and glared at him. "What?" she whispered back. "Good morning", he smiled, kissing her.

"You woke me up to say good morning?"

"Not exactly"

He climbed on top of her and kissed her before her alarm went off. She groaned before pushing him off her and getting up. "Come on", Alex said. "Just a few more minutes". "I have to shower", she said.

"I'll join you"

"Okay, then"

"I mean, should I go out with Finn", Meredith asked Alex and Lucy, Lucy stood in front of him with his arms wrapped around her waist. "Mer, go for it", Lucy said. "As long as he's not married and is nothing like my psycho brother, you're good". "I can't do him, I'm knitting", Meredith said.

"Okay, then don't do him"

"Cristina, what do you think about McVet?" Meredith asked. "I'm against vets", she answered. "So, no dating them". Addison approached them. "I need two interns", she requested. Cristina and Meredith walked off. Holly raised her hand. "That's one", Addison smiled. "I don't do vaginas as a doctor", Alex said. Lucy elbowed him in the ribs. Addison handed him the chart. "You've just earned yourself a case for backtalk", she said. Lucy laughed and kissed Alex's cheek. "I'm gonna try and track down Dr Torres", she said, still laughing.

Addison, Holly and Alex walked into Rose Ward's room. Her husband Chris left the room with their six kids to get ice cream. "Is everything alright, Mrs Ward?" Addison asked. "I'm tired", Rose said. "I need the seventh baby to be my last. I want you to tie my tubes during the C section and my husband can't know about it".

"Mrs Ward, your husband is not your legal guardian so telling him would be up to you", Addison said. "He'd see if you charged my insurance", Rose stated. "I've been saving for this and I can pay you privately. There can't be any record of the surgery". "Is he abusing you?" Alex asked.

"He's anything but abusive. God understands what I'm going through and he'll forgive me. Religion is not a buffet for Chris and the Pope says no to birth control"

"You can't lie to your husband and blame it on the Pope"

Addison observed as she let Holly do an ultrasound on Rose. "Maybe Chris also feels that seven children is a lot", Holly reassured. "We were so broke once that I went on the pill", Rose said. "Chris stopped going to Communion which made him feel like he was going to hell. We haven't had a baby in four years because we abstained for three. I can't hide the pill". "Chris surely won't divorce you if he found out", Alex said.

"Okay, both of you, look at Dr Karev. That look on his face, is the look Chris would have on his face if he knew any of this. I can't have him look at me like that"

"George sucks", Izzie said. "Burke would disagree", Cristina said. "Are you dating the heart patient?" Meredith asked Izzie. "No", Izzie replied flatly. "Dating a vet is equally bad", Cristina said. "No it's not. Mer, get out there. Date McVet", Lucy said. "I'm just saying, Iz, be careful", Meredith said, ignoring the other two. "Bailey's on the warpath about you and Denny".

Alex, Addison and Holly were operating. There was a small bleed that Holly took care of. "You are doing an excellent job, Dr Kepner", Addison said. "There's a little bleeding near the tube. Bovie?" "I don't see any bleeding", Alex said.

"You're not the surgeon here. Bovie?"

He gave it to her. She tied Rose's tubes.

Addison was holding baby Joseph before handing him to Rose. "There was a complication, Rose", Addison said. "Kepner?" "Some unexpected bleeding caused damage to both fallopian tubes, so I'm afraid you won't be able to have any more children", Holly explained. "Thank you", Rose said gratefully.

Izzie and Lucy were happily surprised to see George enter the house. Izzie was disappointed that he was followed by Callie. Lucy was happy and hugged her. "What are you guys doing here?" Lucy asked. "We needed somewhere to stay", George said. "I'm just back for tonight but I might be coming back". "Welcome home", Izzie said.
