Chapter 5: The Public's Eye

The moment that the world found out about your relationship. When it all exploded in speculation and everything changed forever.

It was just a picture of Bokuto with his arm around you right as you entered your apartment building, but somehow that was enough for everyone to conclude that you were together.

Kuroo and you were open about your relationship together online, but Bokuto was unable to admit his relationship with either of you to the public. There was always the fear of speculation and all the baggage that usually came with explaining your relationship situation, but that was multiplied by the size of Bokuto's follower count.

He was an attractive professional athlete. This audience was a beast in comparison to the one that caused so much panic while all of you were still in high school.

The picture that he had posted with the sweet caption was far gone as he had to change his social media presence as directed by his manager. You were okay with it for sure, it was an old picture and it being brought up by people again and again always wondering who it was with him caused you a lot of stress.

Now, with the questions about that picture finally away and Kuroo stepping out of the volleyball spotlight in exchange for his more average job, you and him were able to be open. It made you sad that you couldn't post some of your favorite pictures and take claim of both of your boyfriends, but it was for the better ultimately.

The three of you did have pictures together that posed you as more of friends than three lovers, so your face was not unknown to the rabid audience of Bokuto. They knew you as Kuroo's girlfriend, which still got you comments but nothing that couldn't be ignored if needed.

The issue came into play that day because his audience knew your face. While in public, the two of you refrained from ever doing anything that two friends wouldn't do, but that day he slipped after you had had a horrible day at work.

You went on a simple walk, just wanting to clear your mind. His hand kept on itching to reach out and grab yours, but he kept it in his pocket. He had to control himself or else everything would fall apart.

Then, he saw you place your head in your hands right as the apartment building's door was in sight and he cracked. He reached out his arm and wrapped it around you as he reached for the door. There was no way anyone was around that could cause problems, right? It was for such a short amount of time there was no way that it could—

Apparently, it was the perfect amount of time for someone to catch the moment. For your face to be captured nuzzling itself into him as you found comfort in your love by your side.

Suspicions had already been high involving you. There were always a few comments saying that you and Bokuto looked "too close" in pictures to just be friends (which they also said about him and Kuroo). This picture was the tipping point and it didn't seem like they were taking the "Just Friends" excuse anymore.
