Chapter 11: The Public's Eye |part 3|

The moment that it all came together. When the moment passed that knocked everything down just so you could rebuild again.

Bokuto's eyes widened before he plastered another smile on his face, though this one wavered a lot more. He looked at both of you as he stood up from the bed. "I'm sorry," he said.

You just stood there watching as Kuroo walked forward and grabbed Bokuto by the shoulders. "Why did you do that without consulting us?"

"I- I just didn't feel like dealing with it anymore," Bokuto said as his shoulders slumped and he looked to the ground. He wasn't looking Kuroo in the eye anymore.

You could feel your phone start to buzz in your pocket. Taking it out, you saw that Hinata's name was written across the screen. After him and Bokuto had become teammates, you and him had become closer than ever, but you doubted that this call was about getting lunch to discuss old Karasuno memories.

Leaving the room to answer, you slid your finger across the screen to accept. The moment the phone was put to your ear you heard Hinata yell, "What did your boyfriend just do?"

"Hinata, I know," you said, rubbing your hand down your face. "Kuroo and I just found out. We're talking to him about it."

"Management is calling everyone on the team," he continued. "I'm pretty sure Atsumu is already on his way to your guys' apartment to punch him."

Now you had your hand up to rub your temple. "Is it really that bad?"

Hinata groaned on the other end. "We support it, but it doesn't seem like management wants to test the pride levels of Japan."

"It was going to come out eventually," you said. "There was already a major scandal building up. The media was saying that Koutarou was stealing me from Tetsu."

"Well, a great way to get yourself out of a scandal is to throw yourself into an even bigger one, I guess," Hinata said before he paused. "I'm getting a call from my manager. Be sure to throw Bokuto's phone out of the window for me."

"You got it," you said, laughing just a little bit.

"I'll defend you guys, don't worry," he specified.

You thought back to that time when you were a manager of Karasuno and Hinata had joined your protection squad in a chant of "We won't let them hurt her!" They had been talking about Kuroo and Bokuto at that time, but you could imagine him saying it now about the management team that was about to threaten something.

"You always have," you said with a smile. "Now go answer the call before they get even more mad."

"You got it," he said before the familiar tone of the call ending sounded in your ear.

You turned back towards the door to your bedroom and saw Kuroo standing there. The door was closed behind him and his face was in pure distress. "He's a mess in there," he said in a whisper.
