The moment that you weren't feeling like yourself at the beach and they instantly knew what to do. They instantly knew your feelings and what would be right.
Almost as soon as you set down your bag you saw a streak of movement out of your peripheral vision. You watched with amusement as you saw Bokuto running as fast as he could through the sand, ripping his shirt off of himself and throwing it to the side as he went.
A trip to the beach during your summer break was becoming a tradition during your college years together. This was the second year that the three of you had decided to set aside the time before you were going to head out to stay in America for a couple months.
"Hey, hey!" he yelled, catching the attention of everyone at the beach even more than he already had with just his chaotic movements.
Kuroo appeared behind you. "So, do we pretend we're not with him?"
You laughed as you watched your boyfriend enter the water and instantly throw himself over a big wave with a holler. "I think he likes the beach."
"Maybe a little bit," said Kuroo, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his head on your shoulder. "That or he's very confused right now"
Bokuto continued to launch himself into every wave that came by. Whenever he rose from the waves, you saw his hair was wild and drooping all around and laughed at his chaos.
Kuroo eventually started to unpack the bags that you had brought and you finally diverted your attention from the child frolicking in the ocean to help him.
With the tent set up and towels laid out, you assumed your position in the shade as you reached in your bag and went to reach for a book. The ambience of the waves crashing on the shore was perfect for relaxing—
A hand grabbed your leg and dragged your forward as you yelped. The book was grabbed from your hands as you looked up into the blinding sunlight. "What are you doing?" Kuroo asked as he held the book to your face as if he were accusing you of something terrible.
"Reading? Relaxing?" you answered, confused as to why you had just been pulled away from your spot of peace.
"No," he said, throwing your book back under the tent and grabbing your arms, "we're going swimming."
"Kuroo!" you yelled as he lifted you straight up and started dragging you towards the water. "I'm still wearing my clothes, Kuroo!"
He stopped dragging you finally. "Then get them off I saw you put your suit on underneath."
You grimaced, backing away from him when he finally let go of your hands. "I just wanted to read."
He gave you a look that told you that he knew you didn't just want to read. You may have been the one scanning pages a few minutes ago, but he was the one studying you as if he were reading you word for word— and he was picking up the meaning between every line.
