Chapter 3: The Truth is for Later

The moment that your mom actually saw your two boyfriends for the first time, yet she didn't know that you were dating either of them. She had heard about them in your stories before, but never once had she asked to see them or anything of the sort. That may have been because you never told her you gained any lovers while in Japan— let alone two.

"(y/n), honey. Are you going to introduce me to your friends?" you heard your mother say as you turned around slowly.

You could feel Bokuto sling his arm around your shoulder from behind as you looked at your mother with your mouth agape. They had been mentioned previously, but never explained as your boyfriends. His voice spoke up from behind you before you could continue. "I'm Bokuto Koutarou, Ms. (l/n)!"

She said that her first name was just fine, which made Bokuto continue, "And you can call me Koutarou!"

Her eyebrows raised in a questioning look, which made you finally speak up. "That's his first name, Mom. They do it backwards."

She then nodded in understanding before turning to Kuroo who had walked forward to close part of the gap between your group and your mother. He smiled at her with that warm smile he used in more formal settings, the one time that he didn't use that signature smirk. "I'm Kuroo Tetsurou. Please, call me Tetsu."

"I think I recognize those names," your mom said with a smile back, though you could still tell she was wary. She kept on looking between your face and the muscular arm that was currently holding you tight. "(y/n) must have mentioned both of you before."

"She better have!" Bokuto exclaimed, which made you tense up. "We were all close back when she was in Japan."

You wanted to sigh out loud. They must have known that there was a chance you hadn't said anything yet. At this point they knew you too well.

Your mom smiled at all of you. "Well, give me a hug, my graduate."

You smiled back as Bokuto let go of you and you gave your mom a big hug. As you broke away, she looked you up and down while grabbing onto your shoulders. "I need to head home so be safe tonight. I know you're going to go out with all your friends so just don't be too late."

"Of course," you said. "I'll let you know where I am the entire time."

She smiled again before glancing behind you to where your two boyfriends stood. "They're both very attractive young men. Maybe you should try and pursue one as more than friends."

You held down a laugh by biting your tongue a little. One day soon you would tell her the truth. Maybe she would be proud of you for what you pulled. You said something in confirmation that they were extremely attractive before you said your goodbyes and she walked off towards her car.

When you turned back around, you saw their smiling faces again. "I can't believe you guys are here," you said, your voice coming out soft without you thinking.
