“No!”
Emilia’s voice echoed around the chamber of ancient stone as she glanced around wildly looking for any possible way out. She noticed PRince’s eyes blazing next to her, the death of his father had ignited a dtermination in him that she had not seen for a long time… She placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and verbalized: “We’re going to find a way out of this.”
“And I’m going to avenge my father” Prince growled, drawing his sword. He swam over to the doors and tried forcing them open, and Emilia swam around the room looking for any loose stones. “Hello?” She called out, “”Is anyone there? Marina?? Sirena?! Help! We’re trapped!”
She sighed, after a while of shouting, it seemed hopeless. The energy drained from her body and she sank down to sit on the floor, and she met eyes with Prince, who was not about to give up. He drew a breath to proclaim something when Emilia suddenly sat up and shushed him…. she heard voices!!
“Emilia? Prince?” It was Marina calling out from behind the door!!!! "Marina!" Emilia shuffled foward with force to the large, unyielding doors, pounding furiously in them. "It's me, Emilia, we're stuck!" "Wait, AMELIA?! SHE'S BACK?! I THOUGHT FOR SURE SHE LEFT!" Marina scrambled, ttying to work her way through the situation.
"Hush child, it's Emilia and Prince," Sirena echoed through the door, her voice a comforting ring. "Channel your energy with me towards the door like so" she placed her palm on the dor, chanting in an unintelligent language. Suddenly, a bead of sweat appeared on her forehead, and she gaspe. "I-I cannot break through. Rmilia, Prince, it is up to you now."
Emilia narrowed her smaragdine eyes at the door, it was starting to glow faintly with the magical enregy that surrounded it. “Prince, sirena has weakened the door…! We just have to break through now!” She turned to him to see his gray-blue gaze fixed on the door. H edidn’t answer.
Emilia swam over to him and murmured, “We’re going to make it through. I know we can do it, if the two of us work together” She slipped her hand into his and their fingers interlocked. she squeezed his palm tighter. “The lights in the ocan shine brighter when I’m with you,” she whispered, and when he swiveled his gaze over to meet hers, his orbs were gleaming with courage. “Your right,” he stated back determinedly. “Sirena, Marina!!! Step back! We’re goign to break the door!”
Prince charge at door, Emilia feeling his hand still tight around hers, and she followed. When they smashed through, the pieces sshattered around them almost like it was in slowmotion, and Emilia swore she could almost hear Sirena’s enchantment singing off of them. No sooner had the shrapnel escaped her view than her slim form was hit with the brunt of a swooping hug from Marina. "You're back!!" She shouted shaking Emilia back and forth and squeezing her tighter with each second. When she was released, she met the glance of Sirena. Together, they walked to a corner in the room, out of the earshot of the others.
"I- thank you, w-we couldn't, I-I couldn't" Emopia noticed a certain dread behind her words and as the old merwoman wrapped her palms around the ring she so treasured, she let out a massive breath. "I FAILED, SIRENA! THE KING IS DEAD, I LOST THE LETTER, AND I COULDN'T EVEN BREAK THROUGH THE DOOR!!!" She was fully sobbing now. "Finn is gone, he's gone, and I'm useless. We don't even know were they are or what they're planning… I told Prince it would be all right but IT WON'T...we lost, I lost…"
"But Emilia Tideborne, you are more powerful than you know" Sirena comforted in a musical tone. "You know the contents of that letter," she winked, "you just have to search for it."
Emilia stared at her for a second, before feeling the power behind her words, as she glanced at her friends, her family. She let her magic flow into her mind just as it had with the dolphin spirit. She scanned pathways, memories, Prince, Marina, even Finn they all rushed past her in golden bursts of light.. And then she arrived at the crumpled up piece of paper, feeling it's contents, encoding the words. Floating in the space of her mind, her golden hair flying above her, Emilia grasped the knowledge of the merpirate plan. But more importantly, she found comfort. Here, in all of these memories, was love.
She exited out, snapping back to reality as her power shook the room with its enormitee. Emerald eyes blazing, she made two promises, no declarations, to herself. 1. Protect her family at all costs and 2. Save Finn. She could do it, for she was the chosen one. Emilia the Enchantress.
Her emerald eyes snapped open.
“I know the merpirate plans.”
