Finn swam cautiously outside of the cave. Emilia gazed at his and furrowed her borw. He had offered to stay up first and wait for Marina. They had agreed to sleep in shifts but Amelia didn't seem like she was going to keep her word. She had curled up in a section near the Prince and he had been slowly inching away from her for over 30 minutes. Emilia tried to focus on Finn but felt her eyes growing tired. She forced them open but they quickly fell back down. After a few minutes of this, she gave up and sat next to the Prince. Amelia shot her a nasty look with her cold eyes, but Emilia could not see it over the Prince's muscular torso.
He sighed. "Yo umust be worried about Marina," he implied. Emilia gazed off into the open sea with sadnesss in her emerald orbs. "I am, "she replied. "But what can we do? It's not like we can track her down now. I just hope she returns by morning." "Yeah," the prince agreed, "and if she doesnt?" he queried questioningly.
Emilia turned her gaze onto him and locked eyes "I can figure something out,, I am the choseon one after all." She gave him a tiny smirk, and he rolled his deep blue eyes. "I mean, maybe...." he scoffed reluctantly.
"Of course," she laughed. "I will figure something out because I have to, but maybe is a great way to describe it," she retorted. His eyes stared back at her in the time light of the geyser, and they seemed almost innocent and confused as if he was a little child lost at sea. "How... How do you do that?" he mumbled. "What?" Emilia laughed it off, unsure of what he meant. "How do you do that? You just know everything is going to turn out ok, and then end up making me feel that..." he mumbled and a blush filled his cheeks.
Emilia felt her eyes widen in shock. "I...make you feel better?" she once again met his eyes, "Really?" She smirked at him, believing that he was just joking but he only gazed back at her with that same puppy-dog expression. He started to say something and touched her right arm gingerly, but stopped in an instant and his expression hardened again. "Not that it means anything.." he scoffed.
Emilia felt that same pang of diasappointment when he became cold, but she let out a breath and told herself to stay kind and open , and maybe convince him to stay copacetic. "No, don't do that. You don't have to put uup your guard again like that. You can be open with me." She reached out and touched his arm the way he had breifely touched hers.
His deep blue eyes widened and shined in the dim light. He shifted a bit, unsure of how to accouht for this new atmosphere, but he didn't let go of Emilia's arm. Instead, he put his hand on hers softly. "Well, I guess you are a pretty ok chosen one," he proclaimed softly while looking at the floor. "Not great, just ok?" Emilia smirked and leaned over to meet his downward looking pupils. "Ok, ok, great." He laughed sincerely for what seemed like the first time in a while, and met Emilia's eyes. "It's just... I don't know, you have a way of helping people... I don't think I could've done that..." he growled kindly.
Emilia shifted closer to him and smiled. "Thank you, your majesty" she laughed, "...Why did you want to be the chosen one anyway?" The words came out of her mouth alomst automatically and she scolded herself in her head. This was most likely a sensitive topic and I just dove in headfirst! Typical!
"I...:" The prince hesitated for what sememed like the first time. He lowered his deep voice. "You won't tell anyone?" She grinned. "I promise" she whisprerd. "Ok so... I guess I always felt kind of powerless in the castle-" He narrowed hi s eyes "I know you migh t think, oh I'm a prince, how could I ever be powerless, but listen ok? The king was the one who made all the decisions, it only seemed like I had power but I really didn't because my father took it over for me. So Ireally... when I leanred that there would be a chosen one to save the ocean, I thought, this is my chance!! I can finally prove to them that I'm influencial to! But then you came, and.... You were a human.." he trailed off and suddnly looked worried that he had offended her. "No it's ok" she reassured comforted him comfortingly. "I understand it must have been hard for you..." Insticntively she hugged him in a sudden effort to make him feel better, but she immediately pulled awy thinking, No no no! How could I be so stupid!! I shouldn't have-
She was interrupted by his strong arms around her pulling her back. She drew in a small breath as her face touched his chest and she wrapped her arms around him too. "Don't pull away either," he whispered in her ear. "I'm...here for you too." Emilia was startled by this sudden change, but the warmth around her enveloped her and she only snuggled closer into the prince's broad form. She felt his hand slowly moving down her head softly, unsure how he was supposed to do this. She suddenly felt her tiredness come once again and closed her eyes. The Prince felt this change, and slowly lowered her down next to him, and then laid next to her and put his arms around her. Emilia gladly accepted this newfound warmth, and started to drift off into sleep. "Thank you," she murmured to the Prince. As she drifted off to sleep, she thought of Finn. He was always there for her and so she didn't want to see him hurt by this. Her last thought before the world went dark echoed into her dreams. Why does it matter to me what Finn thinks about me and the Prince? Is it okay that I want him to never know about this? Am I really the hero or just some cheap imitation?
