The towers of a castle glared back at her. Emilia turned her facr to meet Kykle. "Is this place important to my destiny?" Kyke merely stared back through his shiny, golden eyes. They seemed almost empty. "I didn't think I would ever step my claw into this place again, my lady." She gasped. "You've been here befopre??" He blinked at her with obviously sad eyes. "Yes." This made her sigh. "Kyled, you have to be honest with me. I'm the chosen one, I can take it," she assured him. On land, she had never stood up for herself against her father, but she had become a very good listener, she knew how to hear people's thoughts and how to decifer them, she knew how to listen above all else.

"Im sorry" Kylle verbalized. "We should go inside now, you need to see the king." Emilia nodded and swam into the giant palace doors. Inside was a gleaming hall with pillars and ancient paintings adourning the walls, and a big red capert leading to a giant throne. In the throne sat the king, who ha d an intimidating appearance with a giant crown. He held a staff that looked magical.

"Who are you?" he boomed.

"I am Emilia. I come from the world above yours, and I am your chosen one spoke of only in stories." She matched his gaze with her tough, emerald eyes. She knew she would hold the stare until he looked away. When he did, she let out a massive breath she didn't know she was holding.

"You, the chosen one? Now, isn't the chosen one said to be a mermaid, not a filthy human disguised as one?!!!" he roared. "I am a mermaid," she insisted, swishing her tail. The king narrowed his eyes. "You are NOT. Guards, Take her away!!"

Emilia yelled as 2 mermen grabbed her arms and started to drag her out. "No I am the chosen one you just have to let me prove myself! I'll show you!"

"Wait!" a voice rang out. An old merwoman with a swamp green tail dressed in only shawls appeared o n the far side of the hall. Her curly gray hair swiahed with her as she moved, exuting confidence gained from her wise years. Everone in the room regarded her presence as godlike as she swished down the hall. "She IS the chosen on! She is the great Emilia that we have been waiting for for centuries!"

She turned to face the king and pointed her hand at him. "You will accept her, or you will have doomed us for all eternity, Marlin!"

The king sat in stunned silence for a heartbeat before nodding at the woman. "Yes, Sirena" he answered, and he gazed once more at Emilia. "Now that you have come to save us, as you are the chosen one, I will grant you a room in the castle. There are-"

A shadowy figure appeared behind the king. It slowly took shape in the bright lights of the hall. It was the merman from before! Emilia gasped without control, and the king turned to her. "Ah, I take it you have already met my son?"

Emilia stood in the room the king had offered to her opposite the merman she had met earlier. He had been told to look after her until dinner, but he was clearly bored, his eyes were already darting around the room, looking for an escape. Finally, the silence was broken. "You?!" They both sneered at the same time.

"I told you I was the chosen one," Emilia smirked, "Do you believe me now?" "Pfft, you're still a weakling who somehow was mistaken for the chosen one," he growled dimissingly. He leaned against the wall, and carefully blew his dark hair out of his eyes. "I would know because I'm the real chosen one."

"You're not! I am! And if you don't believe me..." she stopped for a moment, collected herself, and decided to say it in a more composed manor. "If you don't believe me, you'll just have to see for yourself when I do save the sea." The prince scoffed and turned to leave. "You don't even know what threatens our kingdom." He started to open the door but suddenly a shrill sound broke his cold demanor. It was the sound of glass breaking.

"Get behind me," he bellowed, "NOW!" They ducked behind the nearest table as the sound continued to ring.

"What's going on?" Emilia verbalized. The prince glared at her. "It's the pirates. The chosen one was supposed to stop them, but obviously you didn't know about it because you're a fake!"

"Pirates?!" She gasped. "How did they get down here???" He rolled his eyes, and answered, "the pirates aren't down here, you idiot. It's their mermaid allies from the evil kingdom of Leven! They're stroming the castle! We need to get out of here before they find us." He quickly swam through a small side doorway and out into the open sea, leaving Emilia behind without turning to see if she would follow. She dashed after him, the sounds of battle beggining to erru\pt from the kingdom.
