The clashing of metal swords of the merpirates rang in Emilia’s ears and gave her piercing pains. Suddenly she found herself wishing that the Prince could be here with his fighting skills. She took out the spear that she had used to hunt fish, hoping that it would work, sense it was the only weapon she had.

As the battle erupted around her, she looked around. She had her spear, Sirena was using magic, Finn was fending them off with anything he could use as a weapon like throwing rocks, and Marina...

MARINA!!! Emilia’s stomach dropped to her feet as she realized that Marina was in a coma, so she wouldn’t be able to help them in battle with her slingshot, but she was also vulnerable to attacks!! She rushed over to the unconcsience mermaid and picked her up quickly, hoping that no merpirates would see her tranpsorting her limp body to a safe cave. Once she got in she laid Marina down , she turned around to head back into the battle.

When she swam out of the cave, she saw a sight that schoekd her to her core…! It was…. The prince! He was fighting off three different merpirates at once but there was a fourth one coming, and he looked like he was having trouble fending off all of them at once. He was badly outnumbered. Emilia sighed and braced herself to go help him because even though he had betrayed her she didn’t want to see him die, so she readyed her spear and was abotu to charge when she heard a menacing merpirate hiss from the side. A merpirate had cornered finn and was about to attack!!

Emilia shifted her weight in the middle of the bloody battlefield.  Her brilliant optics darted with desperation from Prinne to Fince over and over again.  She cradled her head in her hands, unsure of what to do, who to save!  Suddenly, her gaze snapped back on Finn and she rushed toward him wihtout considering the many consequences.  She brought her spear over her head and then down onto the head of the mer-pirate attacking Finn.  As it fell, Finn took her hand and they huddled close as the battle continued to explode around them.

Then, they decided to fight.  Together, they moved in sync, never letting go of the other’s hand that tied them to reality and to love.  When it was over, they were hurt, but alive...and together. They hugged and the Prince stalked toward them annoyedly.  “What was that?!” he growled to Emilia.  “Finn was fighting ONE of them, and I was facing three!  Are you an idiot?!”  Then he muttered under his breath, “well, you must be if you chose him-” EMilia cut him off and snarled, “What was THAT?!”  The Prince was about to respond when Amelia swished to his side, and cradled her head in his arm, making Emilia pull away in disgust.  “I would never act like these idiots and abandon you, your majesty!”  Amelia proclaimed. “Whatever,’ Emilia dismissed, rolling her yees. “It’s late, and we must all be tired after that battle.: Luckily, no one was injured because of the forcefield that Sirena put around them during the fight.

They settled down for the night, Prince lying next to Amelia, and Amelia twirling her hair at him and murmuring words at him that Emilia couldn’t understand. She sighed. Prince wasn’t pulling away this time. Had he truly chosen Amelia over her? She shook her head. This must mean that he was lying about the kiss and he really did want Amelia. Emlilia sighed and reminded herself that at least she wasn’t like Amelia with her shallow “personality” and her makeup and overly flirtatiousness. The prince could date who he wanted, and it was his loss taht he was stuck with someone so high maintenance.

Emilia settled down next to Finn, a small grin creeping onto her face at the warm, welcoming expression he gave her, and she silently hoped that Prince was watching her sit down next to the bright-eyed merman.  “Hey, you were amazing out there,” Finn murmured, his eyes bright in the glow of the evening.  “Yeah,” she remarked softly, her eyes still focused on the newly formed couple only a few feet away.  He put his arm around her and pointed his gaze toward the scene she was watching.  “It must’ve hurt, seeing him be all rude like that when you were trying to defend all of us!”  He turned her face softly to meet his, “I know it hurt me.”  Emilia pulled away slightly and started tracing a heart in the sand beneath them.  Finn noticed this and took her hand.  He guided her hand masterfully in the sand, forming a glittering field of stars in front of them, all beneath a moon.

Emilia grinned and breathed, “thank you.. For always being there for me.”  Finn seemed taken aback for a second, and then as if nothing had changed, her placed his finger on her ring.  “I would do anything for my chosen one,” he comforted.  He then lightly kissed her hand, right over her ring, sending shivers up her spine.  They then laid down together, with his arm around hers and stared up at the ocean above them.  “Those stars were excellent,” Emilia teased, “maybe you should become an artist after all of this.”  Finn chuckled, the sound emanating from deep in his throat, and Emilia felt him cuddle up to her even more.  They stayed there for what seemed like both an eternity and no time at all, until Finn suddenly shifted.

He readjusted himself and got closer to Emilia, making her feel his warmth breath on her face.  “You still awake?” he whispered romantically in her ear.  She brought his arm up to her cheek and cradled it there.  “Yeah, what’s up?” she remarked quietly but excitedly.  “I,” he paused and Emilia wondered if he had fallen asleep before his voice returned, with a deeper and fuller tone than before.  “I want to show you something even more amazing than the stars or the sky.”

Suddenly, he picked her up and they were floating far above the camp, as if they were angels in the night sky.  He then twirled her and let her fall into a dip in his arms.  “Follow me,” he called and released her hand.  As he moved, the coral around them lit up.  Emilia followed into what she pictured as a dream, but was oh so real, as she would later find out.
