Wait For Me (Surprise X ANY)

"I like you," you said in a rush. All of the emotions you'd been keeping pent up for the past year came rushing out in that one sentence; all you fear, anger, need, happiness and sadness. And when you looked up into his face to see how he reacted, your heart shattered into a million pieces. "Y/N.....I'm sorry. I can't love you like you love me."

1 hour later

Peter Parker walked over to you, sitting on your right. "He said no," he guessed. Numbly, you nodded, then turned to him with a suspicious look on your face. "Did he tell you?" Peter shook his head. "I looked just like that when I got turned down," he said taking your hand in his, "And I know how much you want to be alone right now, but it's better if I stay. Okay?"

"Okay. Thanks, kid." You let the high schooler hug you against him the way a boy would hug his mom after a long day. Peter was  the closest thing to a son you had after yours ran out on you. Peter hadn't been with the Avengers yet, but once tony introduced him to you, both of you had taken a liking to the other. "Hey Peter? Wanna go get some food? I'm hungry," You suggested. "Yeah! Mr.Stark told me to try shawarma." Smiling, the two of you stood. "That sounds good. Let's go."

1 month later

You and Peter were layed out on the common room floor, playing monopoly, when he walked by. Peter's hand flew out and wrapped around yours as soon as you stiffened. "Y/N-" He let go when you smiled. "I'm fine. Really, Pete. Also, you're on my property. I need $50," you said. "I hate you so much. I can't believe this tyranny, this is just awful; why would you do this to me? I thought we were un-family, Y/N."

"I don't care if we're real family, kid. Gimme the money." He mumbled something. "Hm?"

"I'm bankrupt. You win." You grinned. "Ha! Told you I'd win!" when you looked up. you noticed him just staring at you with a strange look on his face. "Hey, Y/N? Can I borrow you?" With a shrug, you stood up. "Sure. Be right back, Pete."

"Do you still love me?" The question brought back all the pain you felt when he rejected you, but you didn't let him see. "Why do you ask?" Instead of answering, he kissed you, but you pushed him away. "Y/N?"

"I'll always love you. But we can't be together. It's been a month since I told you, and I'm glad you said no. I have things in my life I need to work on, and relationships would get in the way. Maybe when I've fixed everything, but not now. Okay?" He looked at you, hurt, but nodded. "Okay. I guess I'll be here when you're ready then."

"I guess you will." You turned away to go help Peter clean up the game, but looked back. "I'll always love you, Tony Stark. So wait for me."
