Anna

Mom and Dad had been away for ages on a case. I missed them so much when they were away. Me and my sister Judy made mom a necklace with our photos in it, and we both have one with different photos of them in it. We picked our own photos that really made us happy. My one for dad was a photo when he was re-enacting Elvis once while singing I can't help falling in love with you. In comparison, moms were one where her front hair was back from her face in like small braids. Nan always looked after us when our parents were away, but it's just not the same. I miss them. I always say goodnight though I hope mum hears me. Judy was in the room next door, and I could hear her sobbing through the wall. I went out to make sure she was okay because I needed to protect my little sister when my parents aren't here.

"Hey Judy are you alright?"

"Yeah I just really miss mom and dad."

"Me too. They will be home soon though I promise. Aren't they back tomorrow morning? Maybe we will see them before we head to school."

"I hope so." I put my arms around her squeezing her tight. As I stood up, I saw that sadness in her eyes again.

"They will be home tomorrow I know it. Just try and get some sleep." Something I knew wasn't going to happen for me. Whenever they were away, I struggled to sleep. I just felt nervous and alone, almost like I was unsafe. I could hear knocking downstairs. Maybe it's mom and dad at the door. I opened my door to the hallway leading to the stairs. I opened the door and looked out into the darkness. I couldn't see their car. Maybe it's the wind against the windows. I closed the door heading back upstairs. Bang! I turned around to the door and watched to see if I could see a figure in the side window. Mom, please don't let it hurt me. I opened the door again, this time stepping out onto the porch. "Mom, Dad?" The door slammed shut behind me locking. Dam, it no. I could hear screaming coming from inside the house. Nan was running down the stairs to the living room; Judy is in trouble mom, dad hurry home.
