A few days later...

Anna

I am so glad I get to finally go home today I just want to lay in my own bed again. Me and Mom packed up my things ready to go, but this time I now had an oxygen tank to bring with me, just for the next few nights, hopefully. As we went down the corridor, Mom hugged all the doctors and nurses she could. They all smiled at me as they waved me out of the building. We got out of the car as I saw Dad waiting for us in the driving seat. I ran up to the car, swinging open his door. "Dad."

"Hey sweetie, are you excited to be coming home?"

"Definitely, can we go for some food on the way home?"

"We can't because Nana has made us all some tea at home. Another time though yeah." There was a guilty disappointing feeling running around my stomach. I really wanted to have McDonald's because we never had one anymore. When me and Judy were little, our parents took us all the time, but now they are always busy, and Nana would rather just cook at home. I am not saying I hate Nana's food; of course, I just wanted the memories back.

Mom came up behind me as she smiled at Dad. "Come on Anna lets get in the car and go home." She opened the back door and helped me lift the tank into the footwell. My bag was placed at my side on the opposite seat; Mom got in the front with Dad. She kissed him as soon as her bum hit the seat and smiled with her eyes sparkling. As we drove back, I felt sort of empty. The excitement had worn off. Do I have to go back to school tomorrow? Please no. Will things go back to normal where Mom and Dad are away for ages again? Another case? Will I ever be able to breathe on my own again? I just want everything to go back to how it was well without school and my parents being away. We pulled up onto the drive as Judy and Nana where stood on the porch. Judy ran up to the car, opening my door and hugging me tightly.

"Your finally home." It was really nice actually to feel like my little sister had missed me.

"Hi Judy."

"Nana said we can have a takeout if you want! Nana is takeout is never normally in the same sentence! Well expect when she says no."

"Did she really?"

"Yeah come on. You can ask her yourself." She let go and ran back towards the house. Mom turned around to me and looked into my eyes.

"Do you want me to help?" I felt awful for needing her. I wish I could do things by myself. I just nodded. I didn't really want to say yes verbally. She got out as Dad walked around to get my bags from the other side. Mom pulled out the tank and placed it by the side of the door. As I got out, I had an overwhelming sensation to hug her. As I wrapped my arms around her waist, she made a little surprised noise.

"I love you Mom. I'm sorry for being a pain."

"I love you to Sweetie." She bent down slightly as she put her hands on my cheeks. "You are never ever a pain, I promise." As she stood back up, I went past her and up to Nana.

"Anna darling, hello."

"Hi Nana."

"Nana tell Anna you said we could have a takeout."

"Well it was meant to be a surprise but someone couldn't keep a secret." She looked down in Judy's direction.

"Sorry. I'm just excited to have my sister home."

"I'm only joking darling; I know you are."

Mom and Dad were behind me as they both pulled me back towards them. I looked up as Dad looked at Judy and moved his eyebrow up to tell her to come to. Mom wrapped her arm around me as Dad put his around Judy. Mom and Dad had a little kiss, and I finally felt at home.
